Transformers: The War For Cybertron: Earthrise Review

Transformers: The War For Cybertron: Earthrise is a super quick binge that all Transformers fans are sure to love!

Transformers: The War For Cybertron: Earthrise picks right back up where the first season, Siege, left us. In this season Megatron and Optimus Prime are each taking on their own, new, threats, and not each other, for the most part. This is probably why this season worked so well for me. I love seeing them dealing with other threats like Elita-1, a dying planet, and the dangers of space.

Bumblebee was the standout for me in Siege and I think he was pushed to the side for me in this one. Not in a bad way, I still loved him. But Optimus Prime has always been one of my favorite Transformers and in this is season he really brought it! He has a great character arc and I just kind of adored him every time he was on the screen.

Darker & Grittier

In my Transformers: The War For Cybertron: Siege review I said that this might be my favorite Transformers show yet because of how dark and gritty it gets. Well, season 2 gets even darker and grittier, so you know I loved it! This take on the Transformers is simply fantastic, and I am not super hyped for the final season, and completion of the story.

There is death, destruction, and a whole lot of messed up Transformers in this season. Last season we saw Transformer body parts on spikes, one of my favorite visuals actually, and somehow they get even darker in this one.

A Super Quick Binge Watch

Just like the season before it Transformers: The War For Cybertron: Earthrise is just six episodes, each of which are less than thirty minutes. That means a binge will take you less than three hours. It almost feels like a movie watching them back to back, which I recommend if you have the time to do it.

There are several movies that have come out recently that are about that length and trust me when I say, it doesn’t feel that long at all. I watched all episodes in a row and the time actually flew by. When episode six ended, I was completely surprised how much time had gone by! I zoned right in and was eagerly awaiting the next plot point or twist.

Is Transformers: The War For Cybertron: Earthrise OK For Kids?

My daughters love the Transformers but this series is a bit much for my youngest. She is 7 and she got quite sensitive at certain moments, although my 9 year old loved it from beginning to end.

Honestly, you know your kid best, but keep in mind there is violence and death, as well as a lot of moments where the characters are in grave danger. However, there is no language or adult situations.

Overall Thoughts

Transformers: The War For Cybertron: Earthrise is just as good as Siege, if not better. It continues on with the dark and gritty story and is sure to have fans glued to their screen! Each episode seems to bring in a new danger that will have you on the edge of your seat as you can’t wait to see what will happen next.

If you thought having to wait for season 2 after the cliffhanger at the end of season 1, just wait! I know I am dying for season 3 now that I have finished season 2. Talk about a great series. Surely, one of my favorites on Netflix.

I have been told that this Transformers series is based on a book, which I plan to pick up and read after I finish up the third and final season. I want to avoid spoilers at all costs. But if you don’t care, you can check out the War For Cybertron book!
