Harold Perrineau FROM Season 4’s Biggest Threats

The town is pushing back, and Boyd is at his breaking point. In this interview with Harold Perrineau, he discusses FROM Season 4’s biggest threats.

As the residents struggle to survive against the monstrous forces that emerge at night, FROM has masterfully balanced physical horror with the psychological toll of being trapped in an inescapable location. With its intricate lore and high-stakes tension, the series continues to push its characters to the brink, forcing them to question their reality and, more importantly, each other. As we head into FROM Season 4, the mystery deepens.

Ahead of the highly anticipated new season, I sat down with series star Harold Perrineau to discuss what fans can expect. Perrineau, who is brilliant as Boyd, opened up about the evolution of the conflict this season. While the external threats remain ever-present, he teases a shift where the town itself acts as a catalyst, driving the residents to become their own worst enemies.

Mama’s Geeky: This season feels different. In the past, the monsters were the main threat, but now it feels like there is a lot of conflict between the people inside the town – almost becoming their own worst enemies. What was it like exploring that side of things?

Harold Perrineau: Well, I actually think it’s still the threats on the outside. I think it’s the town that’s sort of pushing people to do things that they just might not normally do. It makes everyone in the town wildly untrustworthy, even to themselves. For Boyd, after everything that happened in season three, he just can’t trust what he’s hearing or seeing. He still sees things – like his wife, who still shows up – and he can’t trust himself. It’s been a fun thing to explore.

Mama’s Geeky: What is it like for you to return to Boyd every year?

Harold Perrineau: It’s a gift to get this kind of a job, and it’s a commitment to trying to tell the truth and be in the moment. But the truth is, it kind of sucks! It hurts my feelings, and I walk around really sad a lot. It’s so depressing at times. You have scenes that go on for days, and you’re just like, “I just want this week to end,” especially when you know what’s coming. But it’s a great opportunity, and I can’t wait to get back every year and play with these people.

About FROM Season 4

In Season Four, the closer the residents of town get to the answers they seek, the more terrifying their search becomes. Who is the Man in Yellow, and what does he want? Will Jade and Tabitha’s revelation be the key to finally going home? How much longer can Boyd hold the town together, even as his body and mind are falling apart? And what role will the town’s most recent arrival play in the events to come? Season Four will open doors that some in town will end up wishing had remained closed.

FROM Season 4 Premieres Sunday, April 19 at 9:00 pm ET/PT on MGM+.
