What You Need To Make These Halloween Cupcake Designs
We often take the easy route when baking. Especially when the girls are helping. Premade mixes are the way to go in our house. Except for the frosting. We are frosting snobs and always make our own buttercream frosting from scratch.
Here is everything you need to create the Halloween cupcake designs that we came up with! They are fun, easy, and creative. Sure to have your friends and family wowed!
- box of cake mix (any flavor)
- boxed frosting or your favorite buttercream frosting recipe
- Tootsie Roll Hot Cocoa
- orange food coloring gel
- green food coloring
- Tootsie Rolls
- candy eyes
- Oreos (or any other all black cookies)
- black decorating gel
- Brachs mellowcreme pumpkins
How To Make These Halloween Cupcakes
The first thing that you have to do is make your cupcakes. Do this according to the package on the box. If you want to give your cupcakes a little extra kick, open up one (or two) of the Tootsie Roll Hot Cocoa kcups and sprinkle it into your batter, mixing well. We mixed this cocoa with a white cupcake and it was delicious! We will be doing this a lot more often, that is for sure!
We made white, orange, and green frosting, to give the Halloween cupcakes some variety. One fun thing to do was create a pumpkin patch cupcake — green frosting and mellowcreme pumpkins on top.
How To Make A Spider Cupcake:
For a spider cupcake, simply cut a slice off of a tootsie roll for the body. Use a little bit of white buttercream frosting to stick on two candy eyes. Then draw on legs and a web string with the black decorating gel.
How To Make A Bat Cupcake:
The bat cupcakes are a little bit more complicated, but honestly, probably my favorite! Again, slice up the tootsie roll for a body and stick the candy eyes on with frosting. Then take one side of an Oreo cookie (or your black cookie) and cut or break it in half. Stick one in on either side of the body for the wings.
These Halloween cupcakes are a super fun family activity for this spooky time of year!
