Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available for the Nintendo Switch and it is a great way to get your mind off current events.

I have been a fan of the Animal Crossing video game series for years, but have never introduced my daughters to it — until now. With Animal Crossing: New Horizons coming out, I knew it would be the perfect time. My girls are 7 and 8, which feels like good ages to really be able to enjoy the game for what it is. I was not wrong.

When I was offered a review copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I jumped at the chance. In all honesty, this was a game I was going to purchase anyways. This just gave me an excuse to make sure I sat down and played it, with my daughters, for hours on end.

And I am not exaggerating when I say hours on end. Something about Animal Crossing just sucks me in. It seems I have passed those genes onto my daughters as well. Which makes me a happy mom because what better way to spend the day than cuddled up with your kiddos and escaping to an island all your own?

Why This Family Of Four LOVES It

The very best part about this game is that you can play with your family and friends. If you have read my video game reviews before than you know how much I love a good couch co-op game. Why? Because I like to play games with my family when possible. And Animal Crossing is the perfect game to play together!

As long as we all live on the same island, it is easy to play together. Sure, there has to be one leader but that is easily solved. We set a timer for 30 minutes and switch off who the leader is every time it goes off. That is the fair way to do it, and there is no fighting (which is a miracle with my kids it seems like).

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the game we needed right now to take our minds off life, and just enjoy time together. My daughters have had a blast creating their own clothes, painting their faces, catching butterflies, fishing, and so much more — all from the couch!

How To Play With Friends

Did you know that up to eight Nintendo Account holders can live on the same island on one Nintendo Switch system? And guess what? Four of them can play on the same island at the same time! If you are looking to play with friends who do not live in the same house as you, you can! As long as they have their own Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Account, and game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a great way to connect and stay in touch with friends and family right now! Why not escape to an island all your own and forget the troubles of the world. I know it helps me clear my head.

Show off your island utopia to family and friends – or pack your bags and visit theirs. Whether playing online or with others beside you, island living is even better when you can share it. Even without hopping on a flight, you’ll meet a cast of charming animal residents bursting with personality. Friendly faces like Tom Nook and Isabelle will lend their services and happily help you grow your budding community. Escape to your island getaway – however, whenever, and wherever you want.
