Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the latest installment in the action-RPG sub-series, has captivated trainers with its real-time battles, urban setting, and, of course, the thrilling return of Mega Evolution. The core experience of Pokémon Legends: Z-A is truly a blast. As a Trainer dedicated to protecting the peace of Lumiose City, you embark on an epic journey that breaks the mold of traditional Pokémon RPGs. Choosing between Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile as your first partner Pokémon sets the stage for a compelling narrative focused on urban redevelopment and the mysterious phenomenon of Rogue Mega Evolutions. I had a really hard time picking, but I do love a fire type, so Tepig became my starter. The best part about this game is that it is a really fun replay, so I know I will have the chance to start with them all at some point!

The core loop of exploring the city, catching Pokémon (gotta complete that Pokédex, as always!), and engaging in the new real-time battles is incredibly satisfying. The story is entertaining, especially as you climb the ranks of the nightly Z-A Royale for a chance at a granted wish. But the real star is getting your own Mega Ring and Mega Stones. Mega Evolving your Pokémon in real-time adds a dynamic, powerful element to combat that has been sorely missed. After beating the main story, I’ve been happily leveling up my teams – but now, there’s a whole new reason to dive back in!

The new Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC is exactly the post-game content I’ve been craving! The adventure continues as mysterious distortions appear in Lumiose City, linking to the otherworldly Hyperspace Lumiose.
This is where things get interesting! The Mythical Pokémon Hoopa makes an appearance, requiring the help of you and the talented baker, Ansha, to gather Berries and make donuts (yes, donuts!) that power up Hoopa and create portals to this new dimension. What a delightful and uniquely Pokémon way to start a new quest!
Once in Hyperspace Lumiose, you join the Mega Evolution expert, Korrina, and Team MZ to explore its secrets. Be warned: Hyperspace Lumiose is a threatening, different version of the city. The Pokémon found here are unique, rare, and boast hyperspace levels that can exceed the normal limit of 100, presenting a truly formidable challenge for seasoned Trainers.
