My Hero Academia is taking the world by storm, and now there is a new movie My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising.
My Hero Academia: Hero Rising is full of action and adventure! If you are a fan of the show you will LOVE it, but even if you aren’t, you are sure to enjoy it. I admit, I hadn’t watched all of the My Hero Academia series before watching Hero Rising. However, I made sure to catch up after! My Hero Academia is easily my favorite anime series currently, for many reasons. And Heroes Rising is just the icing on the cake!
First of all, I love a good action movie — especially if it has superheros in it. My Hero Academia is about raising the new generation of superheros. What gives them their powers is a little unique, and I totally dig it. Heroes have Quirks, and each one is different. In Heroes Rising they come up against a villain that can absorb Quirks. How crazy is that?!
So basically every single hero is in risk of losing what makes them, them, their Quirk. I admit, this was something I did not see coming. And as I watched the movie it got more and more intense.
My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising had me guessing all throughout it! I was on the edge of my seat and rooting for the good guys the whole time. My heart was pounding and I could not wait to see what was going to happen next. To say I was hooked would be an understatement. I watched it through TWICE because it was just THAT good. And I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss a thing.
My Hero Academia takes anime and superheroes to the next level with their story lines, and Heroes Rising is no different. While I was not completely caught up on the show before watching the movie, I was close. I had about 8 episodes left, and it did not impact me watching and understanding Heroes Rising. In fact, it just made me want to finish binging the series even more. It is such a smart concept, and one of the best animes I have watched in a long time.
So if you have yet to dive into My Hero Academia, I suggest you watch Heroes Rising. You don’t need to have seen the series to really grasp it. And I guarantee it will have you itching to watch the series.
My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising is a fabulous anime film. If you love the show, you will absolutely love this movie. It is a great story with all of your favorite characters. But even if you don’t know the show, this is a movie that you can enjoy — especially if you like anime. The action in this movie went above and beyond, and I found myself on the edge of my seat with my heart pounding several times.
One of my favorite things about My Hero Academia is seeing the younger generation step it up, and do what they had to do to protect other heroes. Think Young Avengers Marvel fans! They are learning to become the heroes they have the potential to be. So sure, they will make mistakes (even adults do sometimes, don’t they?) but these experiences force them to grow and learn.
But Which Version Should You Watch?
My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising is being released in two versions here in the US — English Dubbed and English Subtitles. I watched both, but really preferred the English dubbed version. Why? Because it felt like less work and like I could enjoy the movie more. With the subtitles version it seemed like I was reading those and missing some of the action. So unless you are really good at reading and paying attention to what is going on in the movie, go for the dubbed version.
About My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising
The number one hero anime is back in theaters for a battle beyond anything fans have ever seen!
Class 1-A visits Nabu Island where they finally get to do some real hero work. The place is so peaceful that it’s more like a vacation … until they’re attacked by a villain with an unfathomable Quirk! His power is eerily familiar, and it looks like Shigaraki had a hand in the plan. But with All Might retired and citizens’ lives on the line, there’s no time for questions. Deku and his friends are the next generation of heroes, and they’re the island’s only hope.
