When I tell you that every guest of mine grabs for this sausage star appetizer when it hits the table, I am not exaggerating. We have learned the hard way that we need to plan ahead and make a lot of them when having a party. They are so delicious — and really easy to make!

What You Need To Make Sausage Stars Appetizer

I told you these sausage stars are easy to make — and they are! If yo use the pre-cooked Jimmy Dead sausage crumbles, they are even easier! That is my go to, especially when I am the one hosting the party and have lots of other recipes and things to take care of.

  • 2.5 cups of Pork Sausage (crumbled) — I like to use the Jimmy Dean fully cooked crumbles.
  • 1 cup Ranch dressing
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • phyllo dough
  • vegetable oil

You will also need a muffin tin to cook these sausage stars in.

How To Make Sausage Stars Appetizer

This sausage star appetizer is sure to be a hit with everyone! They are simple and take less than 15 minutes to make!

  1. Set oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cook sausage according to package. If using the Jimmy Dead crumbles, this just involves a microwave!
  3. Dip phyllo dough in oil and carefully place them in muffin tin in order to create a shell for the filling.
  4. Bake for 1-2 minutes or until the dough becomes slightly stiff. Be careful, these bake quickly and you are going to need to bake them again.
  5. Combine cooked sausage, ranch dressing, and cheeses in a bowl. Mix well.
  6. Fill each phyllo dough cup with filling. 
  7. Bake for an additional 8 minutes or until the edges of the dough are brown.
  8. Remove from muffin tin and serve in a baking dish or on a platter.

Prep Time: 4 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
