    Black Summer Review

Something you probably already know about me is that I love a good horror show or movie – especially if it involved zombies. For whatever reason, I really enjoy being freaked out. And that is exactly why I was excited to watch Black Summer on Netflix.

I had been told that this show is a prequel to Z Nation, which is another show that is on my watch list, but I have not seen yet. I was instantly hooked on Black Summer. From the very moment it started, I knew I was going to binge it in just a few short days. And I was right.

    The Zombies are Different

One of my favorite things about this show is that the zombies are different from what I am used to. Not only are they fast, like REALLY fast, the people turn immediately. So if someone dies, and they are lying on the ground, withing seconds they are a flesh eating zombie.

If you kill someone (or see someone die near you) and you don’t bash their head in, you better start running. Because they will be after you in a matter of seconds. The zombies in Black Summer are smart too. They hang around outside doorways and houses, knowing that people are inside.

    It Was Scary

There were several moments in Black Summer where I was cuddled up under my blanket, a little bit terrified. There are also several jump scare moments. For me, this makes it a must watch. I love jump scares, I love being startled, and yes I know that makes me crazy.

    I’m Invested

Honestly, I am super invested in these characters. I was totally bummed when certain ones were killed – and I am intrigued as to where season two will take us. Throughout Black Summer, there are several different groups of characters, that all end up together in a crazy way. This was awesome, and I cannot wait to see more!

I guess I should start watching Z Nation, huh?! If you have already seen it, let me know what you think in the comments. I would love to see more of these different, and crazy, zombies – so I am totally going to binge it when I have the time.

    About Black Summer

Set in the dark, early days of a zombie apocalypse, BLACK SUMMER stars Jaime King as Rose, a mother torn from her daughter who embarks upon a harrowing journey to find her. Thrust alongside a small group of American refugees, these complete strangers must find the strength they need to fight their way back to loved ones. But in order for Rose and her team to brave this hostile new world, they will need to make brutal decisions to contend with zombies – and each other.

Season 1 of Black Summer is on Netflix now!

Znation is a VERY good yet underestimated show, it is rather weird after the third season but if you like crazy and weird, it’s for you and you’ll be hooked on the characters and more than one survives so makes it even better!
