When we were told earlier this week that we would FINALLY be getting the first Terminator: Dark Fate trailer – I expected a teaser. I am actually pretty sure Paramount Pictures was calling it a teaser. So I was expecting just a minute and a half or two of footage clips that barely show us anything.
Boy was I wrong! Sure, it was only a minute and a half – but they showed us SO MUCH! I truly thought it was longer until I checked the time after.
My ReactionFirst things first – let’s check out my reaction. Clearly I was hyped about the things we saw in this trailer. I was honestly cautiously optimistic about this because the last few movies…well, they weren’t great. Let’s be honest here.
But the first two were great and we have been told this is going to technically be Terminator 3 (not 6). It takes place right after Judgement Day (which I honestly liked better than the first one and not just because of Eddie Furlong).
To say I am overly excited for Terminator: Dark Fate now is an understatement. This trailer exceeded all of my expectations, and here is why.
Dani’s Simple Life is Gone
This trailer opens up with Natalia Reyes saying she used to have a simple life, and now it is a nightmare. So obviously SOMETHING happened. Duh. But what? Did she even know Grace (played by Mackenzie Davis) before all this started?
Or did Grace just show up, in true Terminator fashion and say “Come with me if you want to live…“. OK, we all know we are hoping for that line to pop up in this movie. I certainly am. It sure seems like Dani needs to live, because at one point Sarah Connor says “Because I was her” when Grace asks why she cares what happens to Dani.
Grace also replies to Dani at one point saying that they win by keeping her alive. Clearly Skynet wants her dead because in the very beginning of the trailer they are being chased by a CRAZY new Terminator – which leads me to my next point.
A Crazy New Terminator
Gabriel Luna (who I adored as Ghost Rider in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) plays a crazy new Terminator. When he morphed himself on to the hood of that truck I was like WHATTTT – as you can clearly see in my reaction video.
Is this the only new power these upgraded Terminators have? I am willing to bet the answer to that is a big, fat NO. And I cannot wait to see what else he has up his sleeve!
A Cyborg that is “Almost” Human?
As soon as Grace’s arm was grazed by that re-bar I knew she was not human. She was something else. But she isn’t really a Terminator either, is she? Seems to me like she is some kind of cyborg/human hybrid.
I am really intrigued, and cannot wait to learn more about her and how she came to be. She calls herself human, so does she even know what she truly is? I guess we will find out.
Sarah Connor is BACK!
We knew it was coming and I still freaked out when I saw her. Sarah Connor is BACK – and more bad ass then ever if seems like! WOW. When she pulled out that grenade launcher to take down the crazy new Terminator (I know that is not what he is but I am going to call him that anyways), I was blown away. I am totally here for this!
Arnold is Back Too (of course)
You can’t have a Terminator movie without Arnold Schwarzenegger, it truly would not feel right. So I was thrilled to see him back. Although we really didn’t see him in action. It looks like he is in retirement when Sarah goes to see him. Or at least hiding out.
I really hope this is not a quick cameo and that we see a LOT of Arnold this time around. He sure is one of the best action stars out there, at least in my opinion.
And speaking of action – what is going on with that airplane scene? Gabriel Luna is jumping from one plane to the next. In the AIR?!? Like, while they are flying?! CRAZY! I need to know more. Like…now. Please and thank you.
