Year: 2017

I grew up loving Beauty and the Beast. I have watched it at least 100 times. Belle has always been my favorite Disney Princess – and I am not sure anyone will top her on my list. When I was a little girl, you could always find me with my nose in a book, which is why I think I relate to her so well. Ever since Disney announced they were making a live action Beauty and the Beast, I have been dying to see it. Every time they release a trailer or image, I grow more and more excited. Well, they just released the final trailer during The Bachelor tonight and I was blown away! I got chills and my eyes teared up – it is going to be amazing folks! Watch it here.

I love inspirational and heartwarming movies. Especially those that empower women. That is what I got with Queen of Katwe. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to see it when it was in theaters last year because it did not play in my little local theater (the down side to living in upstate New York). So when I received an advance copy courtesy of Disney, I could barely wait to watch it. I had been told about it and had read about it, but nothing could prepare me for how much I would enjoy this film. If you like feel good movies based on true stories – this one is for you.

My girls are super in to crafts. They love to create gifts for family members – especially around the holidays and for birthdays. So when I asked them if they wanted to come up with some fun valentines, they jumped at the chance. Something that they love almost as much as crafting is Welch’s Fruit Snacks. My oldest always takes one to school with her for lunch and my youngest enjoys one at home daily as well. We had an absolute blast designing valentines for our family and friends together – and snacking on Welch’s Fruit Snacks of course!

My daughters are huge fans of Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh on Netflix. Not a day goes by that we don’t watch at least one episode. My youngest, who is 4, is obsessed with it. Her favorite episode is the beauty pageant one. We know all the words of the song Tip sings at the end by heart – “While curing hunger would be amazing, it’s not very realistic…” – and it is the cutest thing to watch her sing it. My daughters were so excited when I told them that season 2 was coming to Netflix this weekend (January 27th). My youngest started singing and dancing around and my oldest was literally jumping for joy.

My husband is a huge Jerry Seinfeld fan. He loves his comedy and of course, the show. He has seen every episode more times than he can count. In fact, he can tell you what happens in the entire episode just by watching the intro. So when I heard about the recent release of The Tonight Show: Johnny and Friends Featuring Jerry Seinfeld I knew it was something that we needed to own. My husband was thrilled to be able to see Seinfeld’s appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny. There are many other great ones too including Robin Williams (I NEED this one!), David Letterman, and Steve Martin.

I live in upstate New York so I know a thing or two about winter. I am not a huge fan of the snow and the cold and the ice – not mention the dry skin. It is hard enough taking care of myself in the winter, but having two young girls makes it harder. I have put together a list of items that I have discovered to help me get through it, and I hope they help you too!

On Jan. 24, DreamWorks Pictures’ “The Light Between Oceans,” a lush, classical romance, starring two-time Academy Award® nominee Michael Fassbender (Best Actor, Steve Jobs), Oscar® winner Alicia Vikander (Best Supporting Actress, The Danish Girl), and Oscar and Golden Globe® winner Rachel Weisz (Best Supporting Actress, The Constant Gardener), arrives home on Digital HD, Blu-ray™, DVD and On-Demand. The mesmerizingly beautiful film is based on the 2012 best-selling novel by M.L. Stedman, which swept readers away with its transporting story of fate, love, moral dilemmas and the lengths one couple will go to see their hard-fought dreams realized.

Egg salad has always been a favorite in our house, however, the mayonnaise is not very good for you. We decided to come up with a healthier alternative – and it turned out to be amazing! If you are on the Nutrisystem diet, this would count as 1 Powerfuel, 1 Smartcarb, and 1 Extra. If not, this is just a healthy alternative to an egg salad sandwich. Enjoy!

In just 42 days (but who is counting, right?) my family and I will be going on a 7 day cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy. I was lucky enough to take my daughters and mother on a 3 day cruise on the Disney Dream last summer. I knew right away it was something we had to do as a family, and for longer the next time. We decided to book this one because it had the Star Wars Day at Sea, and we are HUGE Star Wars fans. Be sure to follow along my social media accounts while we are aboard (Feb 25th to March 4th) and come back here for tips, tricks, and more!

While at The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco (on Walt Disney’s birthday!) I was lucky enough to see an advance screening of the first two episodes of Mickey and the Roadster Racers. I knew instantly that this was a show my daughters were going to love. There was so much of the classic Mickey in it, with a great mix of newer stuff – like you get in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. This show is going to be an immediate hit – I am already eager to start collecting the toys and watching more episodes with my girls. I am super excited to be able to share it with them when it premiers on January 15th! I also got to chat with Mark Seidenberg and Rob Laduca (the executive producers) about the show after watching it. They are such great guys – and I could tell that they love the Mouse and his pals as much as I do! Our conversation with Mark and Rob was amazing. I felt like they really took us in to their world. They explained to us about how they started doing what they do, how they met, and about how much Mickey Mouse and Disney mean to them.
