Melissa says that while it is twenty years since Reba ended, they never really left each other. They remained friends, even vacationing together. Melissa opened up for Reba’s tour with stand-up comedy as well. They have such a shorthand that it makes working together easy.

Reba adds, “We have been buddies. We have been coworkers. We have so much fun.” She does on to say that the camaraderie between the entire cast is incredible, and they just gelled right from the first week.

Why Happy’s Place? Reba explains that ever since they stopped doing the Reba show, they have been looking for another show to do together because they have a good time together. “I love the sitcom genre. This is my favorite of all the things I get to do. Its’ fun. It’s creative. It’s comforting.”

Reba exclaims that she has great fans, who have always been very loyal and follow her wherever she goes. They are always supportive of whatever genre she wants to attempt. “They love that we are doing another sitcom.”

Melissa agrees that the fans have been waiting for a reunion between her and Reba. “They are excited about it. She’s my comedy partner and these are my new comedy partners. I hope we don’t disappoint.”

Belissa Escobedo details what it is like working alongside Reba. “I went in with some nervousness but right when I met Reba, she is so sweet and made me feel so at home. She leads this show as a leader should.”

Executive Producer and Showrunner Kevin Abbott also praises Reba. “She has immense talent in so many areas but keeps a humility. I find great joy in writing for her. I sync up well with her attitudes and we like to tell stories that are around encounters that people actually have and we find humor in that.”

Reba says she loves to work with Kevin because anyone can come with an idea and he will listen. If he doesn’t like it, he is honest, but he will take the time to explain why he doesn’t think it will work. “He understands my lingo. He knows when to pull things out when I say something incorrectly in my way of saying it. We are very blunt and we get the point across.”

Happy’s Place: Get To Know The Characters

Reba describes Bobbie as an intense character who wants everything to stay the same. She is on her own, except with her Happy’s Place tavern family.

Pablo Castelblanco plays Steve, who is the bar accountant and does his work at the bar. He has OCD and does not like change. His whole world is shaken when Isabella comes in as co-owner of Happy’s Place. “I am excited to show that kind of person going through life. We can see how a family environment, where your coworkers are your family, has a safety net to grow and get better.”

Tokala Black Elk says he is just so excited to be in a comedy. “I have had a career of being a vilian, a really scary bad guy. I am fun. I play a character who is supposed to be the nicest person you are ever going to meet. That is the essence of Happy’s Place.”

Reba also reveals that her The Voice coworkers, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé, want to come guest star on Happy’s Place.
