Found Season 2: What To Expect Now That Sir Escaped

At the end of Found season 1, Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) escaped, causing the dynamics with him and Gabi (Shanola Hampton) to change. Here’s what fans can expect in Found season 2.

Found Season 2: What To Expect Now That Sir Escaped

After the finale events of Found season 1, Gabi’s secret is out. Her team now knows that she was keeping Sir captive in her basement, causing their dynamic to completely change. Sir is now on the loose, so what does that mean for what Found season 2 will bring?

Nkechi Okoro Carroll (Executive Producer / Showrunner), Shanola Hampton (Gabi Mosely), Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Sir) and Kelli Williams (Margaret Reed) discuss.

Nkechi Okoro Carroll reveals that despite the changes, Found season 2 will still have a case of the week. It is important to have a puzzle for the audience to solve in each episode, even with the day to day changing now that Sir is out on the loose.

It is also explained that Sir’s endgame has not changed. It is Gabi. It always was Gabi. And it always will be Gabi. Mark-Paul says that Sir just wants to have something that keeps them together in any capacity.

That said, there are challenges with him on the loose. The team had to get creative in terms of how they keep that connection between Sir and Gabi. She no longer just needs to go to the basement to see him. He’s on the run, but they need these moments together. The writers stepped their game up to keep this authentic and true.

Mark-Paul explains that there is a level of trust you have to give to your showrunner and your team to pull this off. “I am very excited for our fans and audience to watch the second season. Everything we have built up in season one, there is a pay off. It opens up a whole new world for all the characters, and is an amazing accomplishment from the team.”

Nkechi adds that they had so much fun in the writers’ room because Sir is not just interacting with Gabi anymore, he is out in the world and interacting with other people. “That was fun and interesting to write.”

At the end of season one, Gabi’s secret is out of the bag. Her the team knows. So how do you solve cases when their super power comes from their connection but the fundamental trust has been broken? Nkechi explains “That’s life. Famillies fight. Trust is broken.” Found season 2 focuses on how you rebuild it and how that effects their ability to save lives.

Shanola admits they don’t wrap things up in a little bow in one or two episodes, either. “The healing process takes time. The team releationships have changed. Kelli is one of my best friends in real life, but there is such a disconnect right now [between our characters]. I’m really excited for the audience to see and experience going through this process with the characters.”

About Found

Recovery specialist Gabi Mosely and her team are dedicated to finding America’s missing people forgotten by the media, law enforcement and the public. They’ll stop at nothing to solve these cases because for them, it’s personal — every member of the team has firsthand experience with a mysterious disappearance, whether it was them or someone they love.

But Gabi’s willingness to cross the line could be the very thing that brings her down, because she’s enlisted her own childhood kidnapper to help — while keeping him locked in her basement.

Found season 2 premieres Thursday, October 3rd at 10:00pm on NBC, streaming the next day on Peacock.
