Merry Little Batman is the perfect movie to get your family in the holiday mood: with cool and unique animation and a heartfelt story.

Merry Little Batman is the holiday team-up that you didn’t know you needed. Fans will be over the moon when they see the fun and unique animation style combined with a heartfelt story about father and son.
It is apparent from the start of the movie that is not your average Batman tale. Move over dark, brooding, man and enter overprotective father. Bruce Wayne has worked hard to clean up the streets of Gotham so that they will be safe for his son Damian, but Damian wants nothing more than to be just like his father. Of course, this is Bruce’s worst nightmare as he just wants his baby at home and out of danger.

When Batman is needed for the first time in a long time, and is pulled away from Damian on Christmas Eve, Damian accidentally uncovers a villainous plan to steal Christmas. This is the chance that he has been waiting for, and no time like the present. It also helps that is father is not there to stop him.
What follows is a hilarious sequence of events that allows Damian to not only prove himself to his father, but to get to see things from his dad’s perspective too. Over the course of ninety minutes, DC fans are taken on a holiday superhero journey like never before. The animation style is unique and fun, but it is this combined with the story itself and the voice acting that truly takes things over the top.

Luke Wilson is a fantastic Bruce Wayne / Batman, bringing something to the character that we have never seen before. Because he is more father than crimefighter, it is easy to feel more of a connection to him. Sure, he has always been a father figure to someone, but usually it is tough love instead of coddling and concern. This brings an amusing aspect to the character that fans are sure to love. Not to mention the beard, which as Joker himself notes, is intimidating.
Yonas Kibreab voices young Damian Wayne, and he is very much the star of the show. Another character that you just cannot help to root for. And let’s be honest, we have all had times where we think we know better than our parents. The sincerity he brings to these lines, along with the determination to prove he is ready to take on Gotham’s worst, becomes the heart of the story.

The fact that an animated series, Bat-Family, is on its way to follow up Merry Little Batman, is something that fans are going to be very happy about. If it wasn’t already on the books, we can all but guarantee that it would be something the fans call for. This is a fun and unique take on Batman, that feels fresh and exciting. There are compelling action sequences sprinkled throughout and a whole lot of villain cameos that we have our fingers crossed in hopes of seeing them in the series.
Merry Little Batman is the perfect way to get the whole family in the holiday mood, and to get fans hyped for the new series that is sure to knock our socks off.
