Lady Loki has perhaps appeared in the MCU on Marvel Studios’ Loki, but what is known about this character from Marvel Comics?

Loki is the God of Mischief and so there are many things that he has done in Marvel comics in order to fool others. One of which is literally taking over the body that was meant for Lady Sif, and staying in female form for quite a while. In Marvel Studios’ Loki on Disney+, someone has just appeared that could very well be the MCU version of Lady Loki, or possibly Enchantress. In this article we breakdown exactly who Lady Loki is and what her powers are.

Not Just Another Version Of Loki
Here’s the thing about Lady Loki — she isn’t just another version of Loki, at least in the comic books. In the comics, after Loki dies in the Ragnarok story line, he finds a way to come back — he is the God of Mischief after all. He takes over the body that was made for Lady Sif, and uses it to manipulate everyone that he can, much like he does when in his male form.
In the Marvel Studios’ series Loki, the person who is suspected to be Lady Loki is a variant of Loki, so the Loki fans know and love still exists as a separate entity. The interesting thing about the character of Lady Loki in Marvel Comics is that she is, in fact, the very same Loki. She is not a different version of Loki.

While Loki does ultimately gain the ability to switch back to his male appearance, he keeps the female appearance in his collection of illusions, pulling it out whenever he feels the need to manipulate someone, specifically males. This is why Loki is considered a gender-fluid character, something that was recently confirmed in the MCU series as well.
The Loki of Norse mythology is notorious for changing shape and reinventing himself at will, which is part of why Lady Loki being the same version of Loki makes sense in the comic books. However, with the introduction of variants, who are created when someone steps off their chosen path, the MCU version of Lady Loki is most definitely a whole new character, and not the same Loki fans already know. This leaves the door open for other fan favorites to appear in the show, including Kid Loki.

Lady Loki’s Powers
Because Lady Loki is the very same Loki, her powers are the same as well. She is a master of manipulation and deception, often using whatever she can to get her way. She has superhuman strength, speed, durability, endurance, stamina and longevity.
Of course, Lady Loki also boasts a collection of Asgardian powers including astral projection, energy blasts, force-field projection, telekinesis, illusion casting, shapeshifting, telepathy, hypnosis, flight, and inter-dimensional teleportation.

Is Lady Loki In The MCU?
As of now, it is assumed, but not proven, that Lady Loki is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mobius mentions that the dangerous person they are hunting down is a variant of Loki, the God of Mischief, at the end of episode one. She is wearing a similar outfit to Loki, including the horns. Even though this person reveals themselves to Loki and while she is blonde, she is widely speculated to be Lady Loki.
The other possible identity of this person is Sylvie Lushton, AKA Enchantress. This is because in the international version of the credits, Sophia di Martino’s character is listed as Sylvie.
