If you are a fan of the original Pokemon video games, I am positive that you will enjoy Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. From the beginning it brought the nostalgia for me. I always wondered what would happen if I woke up one day and I was a Pokemon — now I get a whole adventure out of it on Nintendo Switch!
My husband and I both grew up playing Pokemon games and so you know we have raised our daughters on it too. When I was offered a download code for the new Pokemon game, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, we were all over the moon.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon was a favorite of both mine and my husband when we were younger. Which meant we were really excited for some nostalgia in our lives and ready to play this version of it. Honestly, I think we were both excited to share it with our daughters.
All four of us have our own game saves on our Switch, and we are all fairly far along in the game. In the interest of being honest, none of us have beaten the game yet, however we have put in 20+ hours. So I feel like we can review this game with confidence.
What Did We Think Of This Game?
What is the major difference between this game and other Pokemon games? While you aren’t a trainer, you are a Pokemon. And you get to choose from a lot of awesome ones to play. We all chose different Pokemon when starting our games – Evee, Pikachu, Psyduck, and Squirtle. But who you choose doesn’t really change the game.
The purpose of the game is to recruit other Pokemon, and of course, brave the dungeon to help Pokemon in trouble. Be warned, this game has the potential to zap hours of your life away, just like that. When I first sat down to check it out, all of a sudden it was four hours later.
This game is addicting — and insanely fun! My whole family argues over whose turn it is to play. Plus, the artwork is amazing to look at. And the music is fun to listen to. If you are looking for something to take you away from the real world for a while, this is it!
