The Book Of Boba Fett has certainly had it’s ups and downs, but how do things come together in the finale? Let’s discuss in this The Book Of Boba Fett Chapter 7 review.

The Book Of Boba Fett has been a decent show all the way through. It is certainly not without its flaws though, the biggest of which is how the first few episodes were structured with flashbacks between the past and present. This caused it to feel like not a whole lot was going on for the first four episodes. Things finally picked up when The Mandalorian showed up, and quite literally, took Boba Fett out of his own show.

The finale episode of The Book Of Boba Fett is now available to stream on Disney+ and while it is certainly not perfect, it is much better than I expected it to be. All of the cameos from other Star Wars properties really helped, even though some of them felt poorly used (more on that later). Viewers expected an all out war packed with action and for the most part, that is what we got.

Warning: The Book Of Boba Fett Chapter 7 Spoilers Ahead

The entire season of The Book Of Boba Fett has been leading up to a face off between Boba and his gang and the Pykes who are running Spice through the towns of Tatooine (yes, we all get Dune vibes whenever we hear them talk about it). The finale gave us, more or less, the epic fight we were all hoping for.

The Book Of Boba Fett Chapter 7 starts off with Boba making a very stupid decision. He splits up his team, sending them to each of the other towns that he supposedly has a truce with, so that they can stop the Pykes no matter which route they take. What really gets me about this is that Boba is smarter than this.

To really think all these towns have your back to the point where you will divide your already very small group of fighters up makes absolutely no sense. It came as no surprise when they turned their backs on them, and proved they sided with the Pykes.

    book of boba fett grogu

Almost immediately we learn that Grogu has indeed chose Mando and his way over training with Luke to learn the Jedi ways. This is not surprising because I can’t imagine a world where Disney does not have one of their biggest cash cows in The Mandalorian season 3. I mean, just look at how cute Grogu is?! His reunion with Mando, in the midst of an all out battle, is absolutely adorable and viewers are reminded of the unbreakable connection these two have.

It is a good thing Gorgu showed up too, because his help is needed more than once. Whenever he sees Mando in trouble he springs to action to use the force to save him, and that feel very on par for his character. He helps to take out a giant fighter droid by using the force to pull out a screw — very clever, right?

Later in the episode he calms down the rancor that is ransacking the town after being forcefully used to end the battle with the Pykes. He does this by once again, using the force and speaking to the Rancor on a level that none of us can here. The two cuddle up and take a nap together and somehow this is the most adorable moment of the entire episode.

boba fett and rancor the book of boba fett finale

Speaking of the rancor, I know I can’t be the only one who sort of forgot he existed, and that he imprinted on Boba Fett. Back in that episode Boba mentioned wanting to learn to ride a rancor and it is a good thing he did, because it helped him end this fight that he was very much losing.

These scenes were really cool, as silly as they are, and even though the Rancor was moving in a stop motion way (clearly a nod to the original rancor) which felt out of place, it was still a lot of fun to watch. The rancor kicks some serious butt, which is to be expected, but it is also kind of sad to see him forced into fighting like this. It borders on the edge of animal abuse.

book of boba fett cad bane

I have two big issues with this episode though. The first of which is the underuse of Cad Bane. It was so exciting to see him come to live action in Chapter 6 — but to do this only to have him killed in The Book Of Boba Fett Chapter 7 is appalling and disrespectful to the character.

As much as I enjoyed the fight between him and Boba, I was furious to see it end this way. What a waste of a fantastic character. I hope there is a way to bring him back in the future, but I won’t be holding my breath.

My other major issue is that Fennec Shand is barely there during the big action scene. She goes off to save the mods from their situation and never returns. Because there is no explanation until toward the end of the episode, viewers are left wondering what the heck happened to her, and why she is not a part of this all.

It turns out that she decided to go after the leader of the Pykes, and the mayors of the towns that betrayed Boba. She swiftly and silently kills them all in a very cool scene, but I just wish we knew of her plans a bit earlier on, so we were not left thinking about her during the action.

The book of boba fett mando finale

Overall The Book Of Boba Fett Chapter 7 makes a great finale for a mediocre show. It is fun to see Mando and Boba fight side by side, jet packs and all. While some of the action is a bit too flourished (looking at you mods) and there are underused characters, the story does wrap up nicely.

In the end Boba has held his ground for his people, Mando and Grogu are reunited, and the Spice threat on Tatooine is dealt with. Plus, Boba Fett riding a rancor is the coolest thing you will see all week.

A great finale to a mediocre show. The action is a bit too flourished at times, but completely amazing at others. It is the wasted characters that breaks my heart, however.

    Rating: 4 out of 5
