Walt Disney World may be a once-in-a-lifetime vacation for many, but there are ways to do Walt Disney World on a budget!
Thanks to my friends at Get Away Today, I have advice from travel experts about doing Walt Disney World on a budget.
Walt Disney World on a Budget – Before You Go
You’ll always save compared to gate prices when you book your Walt Disney World vacation with Get Away Today. Plus, they offer discounted rates on the many Walt Disney World Resort hotels available. Before you book your Walt Disney World vacation, take a look at these tips for Walt Disney World on a budget.
Travel During Non-Peak Times
Travel during non-peak times. These may seem like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t think to travel during non-peak times. It may mean taking the kids out of school, but it’s definitely worth it! If you’re not traveling around holidays or summer vacations, you’ll save on airfare and hotel rates, and you’ll probably encounter smaller crowds in the Resort. Just plan ahead with teachers and enjoy a vacation during non-peak travel times. The memories you make will be worth it.
1-Park Per Day Tickets
Purchase 1-Park per Day tickets instead of Park Hoppers, and purchase ahead of time from Get Away Today to save compared to gate prices. Since Walt Disney World Resort is so large, you will want to spend at least one day in each of the four theme parks. Forego the Park Hoppers and just dedicate your day to exploring one park per day. It will not only save you money, but stress as well!
Pre-Purchase Disney Gift Cards
Pre-purchase Disney gift cards at big box stores such as Target with their RedCard. Using their debit card offers 5% off the purchase of the Disney gift cards, so you’ll get more bang for your buck. You can also purchase Disney gift cards from other retailers and get rewards in the form of gas discounts, cash back and more. Look into these options and use the Disney gift cards to purchase food or souvenirs in Walt Disney World.
Stay On Property
Stay on property for complimentary concierge services from Get Away Today. When you book a 2-Night or longer stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel and add theme park tickets to your vacation, you can get customized assistance from a Get Away Today travel specialist. This means you can have someone making FastPass requests and dining reservations for you when they become available prior to your vacation.
Additionally, Walt Disney World concierge services from Get Away Today include price-matching, so if a better deal comes along after you book you can be credited with the difference. Staying onsite at Walt Disney World also includes complimentary theme park shuttles so you don’t have to Uber around the Resort. Additionally, guests at Walt Disney World hotels have access to complimentary Extra Magic Hour, which is theme park admission one hour before it opens to the general public.
Last, but not least, your stay at a Resort Hotel includes complimentary Magic Bands, which literally puts everything within arm’s reach! Magic Bands serve as your hotel room key, theme park ticket and offers electronic charging privileges.
Buy Souvenirs Ahead Of Time
Buy souvenirs ahead of time. This is another great tip for staying on budget when traveling to Walt Disney World. While it is fun to purchase something to commemorate your vacation, it’s practical to purchase it ahead of time and bring it with you! Make room in your luggage to bring pre-purchased souvenirs such as Disney pins, magnets, Pez dispensers, Mickey/Minnie ears, plush Characters, figurines and the like. You can hand them out during your vacation and feel good about the money you saved by not purchasing everything in the Parks.
Walt Disney World on a Budget – While You’re There
Divide Park & Hotel Time
Divide time between the Parks and the hotel pool. Walt Disney World Resort hotels have complimentary activities such as movie nights, s’mores nights and more. It’s a great way to rest after spending a day walking through the parks. Enjoy time off your feet swimming, napping, catching an outdoor movie or just enjoying the beautiful weather. Take advantage of the complimentary offerings instead of spending every day of your vacation in the parks.
Bring Your Own Food
Bring your own food and refillable water bottles. Did you know Walt Disney World allows you to bring in snacks, sandwiches, drinks, etc…? Bring a refillable water bottle and avoid spending money on them in the Resort! You can request free ice water at every restaurant to conveniently top off your own water bottle. Of course, Disney food is part of the fun of vacation, but you can go online and decide what you want to spend money on beforehand. Use those Disney gift cards to budget ahead of time for those purchases, and bring your own food in otherwise.
