Oh my goodness guys… we just got the Star Wars Episode IX trailer and it was EVERYTHING! If you missed the news, I am HERE at Star Wars Celebration and YES, I was at the panel where they released the trailer. The fact that I was in the room during this epic moment was surreal. I still can’t believe I was there, but don’t worry, I recorded my reaction live for you. I have to give a huge thank you to Disney for sending me to Chicago to cover Star Wars Celebration. This whole experience has been amazing. Be sure you are following me on Twitter and Instagram for more live coverage – MamasGeeky.

My Reaction to the Trailer

I pride myself in making sure my reactions are true and genuine. They are always filmed during my first time seeing a trailer, so I knew I needed to make this work. I had time to come up with a game plan since I knew I was going to be at the panel when it was released. Luckily I was able to film myself watching the Star Wars Episode IX trailer as it was shown. I am so glad this worked out.

We got the title of Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Which Skywalker could that be? I’m calling it right now – Kylo. I need him to be something very big in the galaxy. I love me some Kylo. Then we got that very evil laugh at the end. I was freaking OUT! You know I am a villain girl. When Ian McDiarmid showed up at the end and said “roll it again” I about died. WOW. Seeing that trailer TWICE in a row, on a huge screen, was so awesome. And seeing it in a room with real Star Wars fans like myself – incredible. I am almost at a loss for words in describing it.

What We Learned About Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker

There were so many things that we learned in this panel – even though they tried to give us almost nothing. The interviews were filled with joking and laughter, but we learned some very real things.

  • We learned that Rose is now out of her coma. When asked if she kisses Finn again, we were told that Finn is a very eligible bachelor. Could that mean they do? I would love that! If you didn’t know, the actress who plays Rose, was bullied online a lot after The Last Jedi. So I was happy to see that Kelly Marie Tran was celebrated at Star Wars Celebration, because she truly deserved that standing ovation. And yes, I cried.

  • We have a new droid! D-O came out on stage and he is ADORABLE. I love him already. We were even shown several different versions of him that were on the drawing board but I must say, I am very happy with what we were given.

  • Luke’s Lightsaber LIVES! Yes! Daisy Ridley let us know that even though it was destroyed in Episode VIII, it lives on. This has me so excited and I cannot wait to see how they bring it back in to the universe. I am guessing that Rey, being the amazing mechanic she is, could put it back together some how. Maybe it will be even better than it was before!

  • Billy Dee Williams is BACK as Lando! And I am here for it! When asked how he found Lando again, he said Lando never left him. Chills. I loved seeing him on stage – he looks so good! I cannot wait to see him back in the pilot’s seat of the Falcon!

  • The characters go on a journey together. Yes. JJ Abrams told us they will be TOGETHER on a journey in this movie – and you know I am hyped about it! Stephen asked him at one point if that meant all the actors that were on stage would be together, which he didn’t directly answer. But I totally think this is possible. And I want it to happen.

  • Finn is a full fledged member of the Rebellion now. And John Boyega was so excited about it. He said he loves his new blue pants – and they made him feel like he was finally a part of Star Wars. John is so happy that Finn has found his place, his calling. He also brought up a possible Poe/Finn romance which I am POSITIVE was a joke. But a girl can hope, can’t she?

  • Carrie Fisher is back as Princess Leia, and they used all old footage to do it. It just did not feel right to recast her, said JJ. He also said it didn’t feel different, or crazy, or weird. It felt like she was there with them. I admit, I teared up just seeing the photos and footage of her that they showed. I cannot wait to see how they bring her back to life on the big screen.

  • There is a new character Jana, played by Naomi Ackie. And she looks like she is bad ass! I wouldn’t mess with her, that’s for sure! There have been rumors circulating that she will be Lando’s daughter. When asked by Stephen she just said Lando is a very charming man, and could have children all over the galaxy. Hmmm… she sure is looking like she has some of that Lando swagger in this photo.

What Does This Mean?

What do I think this all means? Well if you know me, you know I love me some bad guys. I am a big fan of the villains, but I am excited to see them destroyed in Episode IX. I truly think this will happen. But how? That I can’t say for sure. Will Rey take them down? Will Kylo jump ship and turn to the light side? You guys know I want Kylo and Rey to fall in love. I guess we just have to wait about 8 more months to find out.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens in U.S. theaters

  1. So far every else one who filmed at the STAR WARS celebrations event, has not mention that the Emperor himself was there, at all.
