Cloak & Dagger are a couple of my favorite comic book characters. I have always loved how connected they are and how if you see one without the other, it just doesn’t seem right. So when I heard that Freeform was going to have a Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger show starting this summer, I was thrilled. Freeform is home to some of my favorite shows, like The Fosters, so I had a feeling this was going to be a big hit for me. When I was given the chance to watch the first few episodes before they aired, I was super excited. Trust me when I say, this show is going to hook you from the start – Marvel fan or not!

Grabs You From The Start

Right from the opening of the first episode I was sucked in. We see Cloak and Dagger when they are young kids and discover how they are connected. I immediately became invested in these two characters and wanted to know what happened with them as they grew up. Cut forward to them as teenagers and I was even more in to learning their stories. I was happy to see the show going back and forth between the past and the present so that I could see the reasons their lives were turning out how they were. This show is full of drama and suspense, and I think it is only going to get better.

Different From The Comics

Like most movies and TV Shows, there are some differences from the comic books of course. But wow, from what I have seen – I am really looking forward to how this series progresses. It is not for young kids, but ages 14 and up could probably handle it, as long as you talk to your kids about things like drugs and violence. You can easily enjoy this show even if you know nothing about the comic books. I could tell right away that this series is going to do its own thing, and be a great option for long-time fans, casual fans, and those completely new to these characters.

The Cast

Olivia Holt plays Tandy (Dagger) in this show and I loved her right from the moment I saw her. The more and more I watched her, the more blown away I was by her performance. Aubrey Joseph who plays Tyrone (Cloak) also impressed me. I have seen Olivia Holt act before, but never Aubrey. I love him as Cloak and cannot wait to see more. The young kids that play Tandy and Tyrone are pretty talented as well.

About Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger

“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened by and awakened to newly discovered superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another.

I am really looking forward to seeing this series develop – I am totally hooked already!

Tune in to Freeform for the series premiere of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger 6/7 at 8pm!
