I am a sucker for a good chick flick, and that is just what A United Kingdom is. I was excited to have a couple of gal pals over for a Sunday Brunch to watch it with me. I prepared some orange juice (and one of us had a mimosa but I won’t tattle on who it was) and some popcorn. We all really enjoyed the movie and all three of us shed a few tears. It is a touching film about love and overcoming obstacles.
The film is just under two hours long, but honestly, it flew by for me. I just loved the story that it told. And the fact that it is a true story really touched my heart even more. In a world where things are so crazy right now and uncertain, it was refreshing to watch a love story overcome against all odds. You can watch it on digital HD now, and the DVD and Blu-ray will be available in stores on June 6th, and I highly recommend picking it up! Especially if you are a sucker for love stories like I am.

About A United Kingdom
A United Kingdom is the period romance telling the true story of King Seretse Khama of Botswana, who fell in love with a white English woman during the 1940s, putting his country and rule in jeopardy to marry the woman he loved. The couple faced opposition from the British government, members of Seretse’s own family, and from a number of other powerful sources, who treated their love as a thereat to the status quo. A United Kingdom stars David Oyelowo (Selma) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl).
