This week started off great. I stuck to the Nutrisystem plan, as I always do. I knew going in to this week that the end of the week would be hard. Come Friday, my family and I would be making the 6 hour (each way) drive from New York to Boston. We had plans to go to Disney on Ice: Frozen on Ice, and a couple of museums (watch for posts about these things real soon). This meant it would be really hard to stick to my diet.
I was really excited because on Wednesday, I received a gift from Nutrisystem that really boosted my confidence! A #NutriBear! It marked my 10lb weight loss and was there to help me celebrate. This made me feel really good about myself. And it is so cute! I love that they do this, I think it is really cool and is a great way to keep people motivated!
Fast forward to Friday. I packed up breakfast, lunch, and dessert bars. It was going to be impossible to make dinners being in a hotel and so I also grabbed my Eating Out Guide. I had high hopes going in to this trip. I ate my breakfast bar on the drive. We made it to Boston mid-morning and headed to our first museum. At lunchtime I realized I had left my bars in the car. Well, that was a bit of a walk so I just ordered a half chicken caesar wrap with light dressing from the museum restaurant. For dinner we went out to a restaurant that was raved about and I broke down. I realized that if I did not splurge a bit on this trip, I would be miserable. I knew that come Monday I would not be motivated at all to return to my plan – and so I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was delicious!
The next day for breakfast, I had a wake up wrap from Dunkin Donuts. For lunch, a turkey sub from Subway (6 inch, no mayo). Then for dinner, I splurged a bit again – a buffalo chicken calzone (yea, I like spicy things) – which I only ate half of. At Disney on Ice, I did eat some of my daughters’ cotton candy as well. I skipped my Nutrisystem desserts every night. The next morning, I did have a breakfast bar before heading out. But we stopped at McDonald’s for lunch with the girls and I had 5 chicken nuggets (no sauce) and half a plain cheeseburger.
I was really expecting to be way up come this morning. I held my breath as I weighed myself. Now, earlier in the week, I was down to 142.6 and I knew I would go up from that. But I really expected to be up from last week’s weigh in as well. And I wasn’t. I was actually down. I was shocked! Now that vacation is over, I plan to go right back to my normal Nutrisystem plan. But this just goes to show that if you “cheat” now and then, it will be OK. Just be smart about it. I could have splurged a lot worse, but what I did do – well, it really satisfied my cravings.

That’s great to hear, I know on my program I’ve splurged a few times when dining out. I always try to follow it up with a little extra exercise, and skipping my desert for the day if I’ve met my calorie intake. I agree we have to give in every once in awhile or we will crash all at once.
