How The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Differs From The Game

0

The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 picks up after the devastating loss of Joel, and while a lot is similar to the game, there are some differences.

How The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Differs From The Game

The Last Of Us Season 2 may have already executed (no pun intended) one of the most emotional beats of the entire series, but because of the small changes from the game, more and more differences are starting to bleed into the show.

After the events of Jackson, it was clear some things had to change in order to make sense. That horde fight does not exist in The Last Of Us Part II, and because Tommy was there protecting the city, he was not by Joel’s side when things went down with Abby. Joel and Dina being on patrol together caused Jesse to be the one with Ellie that fateful day. While these are minor changes, the impacts are starting to ripple through.

The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Differences

How The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Differs From The Game

In The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3, we learn that Ellie was down for the count for several months, recovering in the hospital. The residents of Jackson have gone to work doing their best to return it to its former glory.

In the game, Ellie convinces Tommy to go after Abby pretty much immediately after Joel’s death. It is clear that something changed in him after that day as he becomes consumed with revenge – as does Ellie. Dina and Ellie head out as well, not long after Tommy.

How The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Differs From The Game

Because of this, Tommy ends up really hurt. He also ruins his relationship with his wife. Thanks to the addition of the horde attacking Jackson, Tommy now chooses to stay home and help rebuild.

While I completely understand this, I am curious to see if Tommy ever goes down the dark path he does in the game, because it doesn’t seem to make sense that he would in this context. This would leave that part completely to Ellie.

How The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Differs From The Game

The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 features a council meeting, where Ellie tries to convince the town to send a group of people after Abby. I immediately knew this would not happen because it would change the entire dynamic of what is to come. Ellie going after Abby with a group of sixteen would make their odds a lot better, and take away from the events that occur down the road.

How The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Differs From The Game

Dina coming to Ellie to go with her on her journey is similar to how things play out in the game, besides the fact that Tommy left ahead of them. Since we missed out on them going on patrol together, it was lovely to see them spending this time together and getting to see what their friendship is like on screen.

Of course, we get the kiss rating conversation as well. In the game, this is a conversation that is had while they are on patrol and holed up in the store full of weed. In the series, it happens while they are waiting out a rainstorm and getting some rest. Just as good if you ask me, I am just happy they didn’t skip over it because I feel it is crucial to the story.

How The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Differs From The Game

In The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Ellie stops by Joel’s grave to say goodbye. This is one of the most emotional parts of this episode and I am really glad it was included.

This episode also introduces the Seraphites, a group of sadistic and brutal people with scars on their faces. They use whistles to communicate and while, so far, they seem to be harmless, gamers know that not to be the case. A group of them is murdered by the Wolfs in The Last Of Us Season 2 Part 3, which then causes a key moment from the game to happen.

How The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 Differs From The Game

Dina finds the group and is so bothered by the smell that she throws up. This might not sound all that important, but I promise you, it is.

The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 may have some differences to the game, with the biggest one being that Tommy has remained in Jackson. I don’t think this is going to have a major effect on the future of the series, so I don’t mind the change.

The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 3 is now streaming on Max.

Havoc Movie Review: Filled With Bloody, Action-Packed Fights

0

Netflix’s Havoc is filled with bloody, action-packed fight sequences, but also a messy, ridiculous plot. It’s a “turn your brain off and have fun” movie.

Havoc movie review

After four years of delays and development hurdles, Havoc is finally making its way to Netflix. Starring Tom Hardy, Timothy Olyphant, and Forest Whitaker, I had a pretty good feeling this was going to be an action-heavy film, and I was right.

What there is of a plot is more of a mess than anything else, and the fight sequences might look cool, but if you think about them for too long, they are absolutely ridiculous. Still, this is one of those movies where if you turn your brain off, you are sure to have a good time.

Havoc movie review

The story follows Detective Walker (Hardy) as he hunts down the estranged son of a politician (Whitaker). The son, Charlie, is in a whole lot of trouble after getting mixed up in a drug deal gone wrong. This causes Walker to have to take on several different factions, including a vengeful crime syndicate and his fellow cops.

Havoc movie review

As a parent myself, I was hoping to relate to Mother. I understand her intentions, as she sends people out into the city to avenge the death of her son, but she often feels as if she is acting hastily.

That said, everyone grieves in their own way, so perhaps she is just not thinking rationally in these moments. One would think that as the head of a massive crime syndicate, however, she would not be willing to burn it all to the ground just like that.

Havoc movie review

If you are able to ignore the fact that almost no one ever reloads their weapons or runs out of ammo, the action sequences here are a lot of fun. While they do seem to go on forever at times, that is part of their charm.

Havoc movie review

These fights are some of the most over-the-top, ridiculous scenes I have seen in a while, but I had a lot of fun with most of them. I did find myself thinking logically at first – like, how has that person shot over one hundred times and never reloaded? – but once I let go of that and immersed myself in the madness, I was having a blast.

Havoc movie review

One of my favorite things about Hardy as an actor is that he has impeccable comedic timing. Even in the midst of an action movie like Havoc, he dropped a few one-liners that took me out. The way he talks to his “partner” during their investigation of the big crime scene had me dying. It felt very Eddie Brock, and I loved every single second of it.

Havoc movie review
HAVOC. Timothy Olyphant as Vincent in HAVOC. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2025

Timothy Olyphant is always great, which is why I was a little bummed that it felt like his character contibuted most to the messy plot. Without giving too much away, the people that he is after have a whole lot of other people who want to kill them, so why bother?

Keep your hands clean and let others do it for you. This motivation never made sense to me, which made me feel like he did not even need to be in the film.

Havoc movie review

Admittedly, Havoc is a pretty ridiculous movie. So much of the plot makes absolutely no sense, feeling like it is put there solely to be the cause of more bananas action sequences. Guns never run out of ammo, and people never get tired even after seemingly hours of running and shooting, and fighting.

But hey, if you are looking for some bloody, action-packed sequences that will make you wince (especially towards the end), then Havoc is for you. Check it out on April 25 when it hits Netflix.

When attempting to rescue the politician’s estranged son, whose involvement in the drug deal starts to unravel a deep web of corruption and conspiracy, he is forced to confront the demons of his past.

Havoc is a high octane action thriller written and directed by Gareth Evans (The Raid, Gangs of London), and starring Tom Hardy, Jessie Mei Li, Justin Cornwell, Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Michelle Waterson, Sunny Pang, Jim Caesar, Xelia Mendes-Jones with Yeo Yann Yann, Timothy Olyphant, and Forest Whitaker.

Until Dawn Movie Review: A Bloody Good Time!

0

Until Dawn is a lot of fun. Packed with gnarly practical effects, epic death sequences, and an intriguing plot, get ready for a bloody blast.

Until Dawn Movie Review: A Bloody Good Time!

Until Dawn was pretty much exactly what I expected it to be after watching the trailer – a whole lot of fun! This movie feels like Cabin In The Woods and Groundhog Day combined in the perfect way. As someone who has not played the video game, I have nothing to compare it to (and I know some gamers are upset), but as a standalone horror movie, it’s a bloody blast!

Until Dawn Movie Review: A Bloody Good Time!

This movie follows a group of teens who find themselves in quite a bit of trouble while looking for Clover’s missing sister. Searching her last known location puts them in a valley with some dark secrets. They end up being hunted by a masked killer, only to realize that after they all die, they must restart the night. If they can survive until dawn, they can leave. If not? They will remain a part of the town forever.

Until Dawn Movie Review: A Bloody Good Time!

Until Dawn is very much a classic horror movie, but with a twist. There are jump scares after jump scares after jump scares – quite a few that got me good – but because the night is reset once everyone dies, it offers a fresh take on what we have come to know as a slasher film. Each night offers new and thrilling ways that these characters can (and absolutely will) die, but it is the deeper plot that really sold me on the movie.

Until Dawn Movie Review: A Bloody Good Time!

Every time they come back, these kids are a little worse for wear. They are starting to almost decompose, if you will. Death is taking a toll on their bodies, creating yet another obstacle that they are up against. It isn’t just about surviving through the night, it is about surviving through the night before they succumb to it.

Until Dawn Movie Review: A Bloody Good Time!

The wendigos are some of the most terrifying-looking creatures that I have ever seen, and are often what startled me while watching. They are just human enough to really lay on the creepy factor. Something I really appreciated about them is that they each have their own unique look, which is, of course, due to the circumstances of their creation (something I will not spoil).

Until Dawn Movie Review: A Bloody Good Time!

Easily my favorite thing about Until Dawn is the use of practical effects. Surely, there is some CG used when necessary, but for the most part, the deaths are all practical, with heavy use of prosthetics. That is what allows this movie to truly shine. It creates a more immersive and believable experience for the viewers, but also clearly helps to put the actors in the situation, making their performances that much more real.

Until Dawn Movie Review: A Bloody Good Time!

I am a horror buff for many reasons, but one thing that constantly draws me back to the genre is that within the unique and exciting kills, there is always a theme about coming out of the other side of trauma better off than you were going into it.

Until Dawn is no different, as several characters are forced to look inwards and work together if they have any hope of getting out. This movie in particular, also explores our deepest fears, many of which I could relate to.

Until Dawn Movie Review: A Bloody Good Time!

I had a lot of fun with this movie. It is exactly what I wanted it to be, and I am thrilled about that. While I cannot compare it to the game (at least not yet – it is on my list to play), as a standalone horror movie, it is a blast. I would absolutely watch a sequel, so fingers crossed there is one.

Until Dawn comes to theaters on April 25. This is a movie that deserves to be seen on the big screen with a packed audience. I truly feel that this is the best way to experience it. While it will be fun at home on the couch too, I believe that a theatrical experience will be much better.

The ensemble cast, featuring the fantastic chemistry of Ella Rubin (The Idea of You, Anora), Michael Cimino (Love, Victor, Senior Year), Odessa A’zion (Hellraiser (2022), Grand Army), Ji-young Yoo (Freaky Tales, Smoking Tigers), Belmont Cameli (Saved by the Bell (2020), Along for the Ride), and the always captivating Peter Stormare (Fargo, Constantine), truly elevates the suspense.

Directed by David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation), the plot keeps you guessing with its intriguing twists and turns, and be warned, the jump scares are plentiful and effective. If you’re looking for a fun, gory, and genuinely thrilling horror movie, Until Dawn is a must-watch.

About Until Dawn

Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening.

Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the night again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.

YOU Season 5 Review: The Story Comes To An End For The Ultimate Toxic Male, Joe Goldberg

0

Netflix You season 5 is the final season, meaning that the ultimate toxic male, Joe Goldberg’s, story comes to an end – and it is absolutely perfect.

From the very first episode of You, I was hooked. This is a story that is right up my alley. Toxic male serial killer who is intriguing, but a terrible person, and somehow often gets women to fall for him. Hiding in plain sight, much like Dexter, this is a story that we as a society often soak up, practically begging for me.

The show has always been sexy, daring, disturbing, and thrilling. Admittedly, I was worried when season 4 was announced, because I felt that season 3 was a perfect ending. Then, after season 4, I thought, okay, this must be it for Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley).

But the creators had other plans, and rather than let him ride off into the sunset with Kate Lockwood, Joe was to be tested again. This time, by Bronte.

When a woman breaks into his closed bookstore in the middle of the night, she gets a lot more than she was bargaining for. Bronte (Madeline Brewer) captures the attention of Joe, which, as viewers of the show, we know is something you absolutely do not want. With his marriage already struggling, the story starts to follow a theme of will they or won’t they. Honestly, this is when You season 5 is at it’s weakest.

Something about Bronte annoyed me pretty much from the first moment that we meet her. Things felt off, and if I am being completely honest, she was getting on my nerves. I have watched many naive women fall for Joe Goldberg, but she seemed better than that. She was smarter than that. And watching her fall into his trap was driving me crazy.

While Brewer was making me want to pull my hair out (nothing against the actress, she did what she could with how it was written), Anna Camp was giving me life over her portrayal of Kate’s sisters, Reagan and Maddie Lockwood. These two could not be any more opposite, and yet she nails both performances.

I found myself wanting to hug Maddie and wanting to push Reagan out a window. Somehow, this only made me start to feel bad for Joe – a trap I fell into many times over. Then something magical and exciting happened. You Season 5 Episode 6.

When I say game-changer, that is almost an understatement. This episode literally gave me chills as I jumped from my seat on the couch with excitement. This is the moment that I had been waiting for. Suddenly, everything that I had been feeling started making sense. And I could not have been more thrilled.

YOU Season 5 Review: The Story Comes To An End For The Ultimate Toxic Male, Joe Goldberg
You. Episode 501 of You. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2025

This season knows exactly what it is doing as it finds a way to tie all of the previous seasons in. Joe Goldberg mentions several times how he is haunted by those he has killed, but he really has no idea just how right he is. Without giving anything away, one of my favorite things about You season 5 is that it was clearly always intended to be the end.

Everything comes together to create a story that will have viewers on the edge of their seats, clicking play next episode over and over, until the very end. Especially as those final episodes start rolling and viewers truly have no idea how everything is going to play out for Joe Goldberg. Will he get what he deserves? Will he get off scot-free? Or some combination of the two?

While I cannot lay it all out – tune into the final ten episodes on Netflix for that – I can say that it is done so in a way that is so brilliant, and so poignant, and kind of makes you think about the world we are living in today in a way you probably don’t want to. You Season 5 is the perfect ending to a twisted, disturbing story that fans have been following for years.

YOU Season 5 Review: The Story Comes To An End For The Ultimate Toxic Male, Joe Goldberg
You. Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg in episode 5010 of You. Cr. Clifton Prescod/Netflix © 2025

I never expected it to end this way, but I am thrilled that it did. The final line of the series gave me chills, and works so perfectly, making the series as a whole one of the best thrillers to ever grace the small screen. Penn Badgley is truly one of the greats.

You Season 5 is now streaming on Netflix, along with all four other seasons. Do not miss out on one of the most unforgettable, exciting, and thrilling television series to ever exist. Now is the time to start binge-watching if you have never seen You. Trust me, you will not regret it.

Oh, and the final two episodes include the perfect, and I mean perfect, use of Olivia Rodrigo’s Vampire and Taylor Swift’s Guilty As Sin.

Super Duper Bunny League Producers Discuss Creating Family Content

Super Duper Bunny League executive producers Robert Scull and Jonny Belt discuss creating content that the whole family can enjoy.

Super Duper Bunny League Producers Discuss Creating Family Content

There’s a new league of superheroes in town, as Nickelodeon debuts the all-new animated series, Super Duper Bunny League, based on the kids’ comic book series by cartoonist Jamie Smart. The series is a 2D-animated adventure-comedy that centers on a diverse group of bunny friends who work together and use their unique powers to protect their beloved city.

We caught up with Robert Scull and Jonny Belt, who serve as executive producers on the series, to talk all things Super Duper Bunny League. They discuss the animation style, the cast, and making content that both kids and parents can enjoy.

What is the inspiration behind Super Duper Bunny League?

Super Duper Bunny League Producers Discuss Creating Family Content

The show is based on Jamie Smart’s early-reader comic series originally titled Super Hero Bunny League. When Eryk Casemiro and Ramsey Naito brought it to us, we immediately wanted to hop on—there’s this perfect mix of absurdity, energy, and warmth.

Jamie’s characters and art style felt like a natural fit for animation—his bold color choices and thick/thin line work had a vibrant, expressive look that we love. It felt like the kind of world you’d want to jump, run around, and explore in.

You two have worked together many times before—do you have a shorthand now that makes the collaboration easier?

Super Duper Bunny League Producers Discuss Creating Family Content

Robert: We’ve definitely developed a rhythm over the years. It’s a lot of “What if…” followed by “Oh, wait, and then…”

Jonny: Our conversations usually bounce between writing, laughing, rejecting each other’s ideas, convincing each other, and then writing again. After all this time, we trust each other’s instincts, which helps a lot when you’re making fifty-two 11-minute episodes as fast as you can.

This show has such a fun cast. Can you talk about bringing them all on?

Super Duper Bunny League Producers Discuss Creating Family Content

This was the first time we worked with an all-adult ensemble voice cast, and it completely opened up new territory for us making the entire process incredibly fun. We worked closely with the fantastic Sirena Irwin, who directed the cast and brought so much life and spontaneity to the sessions.

Some of our best days were spent with Janelle James—our narrator—on Zoom. Her performance is hilarious and totally unique. Instead of a traditional all-knowing narrator, she reacts to what’s happening like she’s watching the show with you, which we loved writing for, but even more so seeing her bring the hilarity and charm out in her performance.

I love the animation style of Super Duper Bunny League! Can you talk about how you settled on the design of the different bunnies and other characters?

Super Duper Bunny League Producers Discuss Creating Family Content

Jamie Smart’s original art was right there in the book! It was bold, colorful, and playful—exactly what we needed! And we developed a few other characters to work with Jamie’s original Bunny Team to build out the world even further!

We worked with Gigglebug Animation in Finland, and they totally got what we were going for. Their work has that handcrafted, expressive feel. We wanted the bunnies to each have their own distinct silhouette and personality, but the world as a whole had to pop. Gigglebug helped make that vision come alive.

With a series like this, are there a lot of improv opportunities for the cast, or do they mostly stick to the script?

Super Duper Bunny League Producers Discuss Creating Family Content

We always write tight scripts, but once we’re recording, we like to open things up a bit— Everyone we’ve casted is not only talented but genuinely funny. Some of them are Groundlings alumni, so we really gave the space for all sorts of terrific ad-libs to come out of the sessions. Sometimes we even rewrite a little afterwards to keep moments we love that stemmed from the actors surprising us. It keeps the tone fresh and the world feeling alive.

How would you describe the series to get parents and their children to check it out?

Super Duper Bunny League Producers Discuss Creating Family Content

It’s silly, fast, full of action—but it’s also got a lot of heart.

It’s about being heroic in your own weird way. Whether you’re 4 or 40, there’s something in Super Duper Bunny League for you. If you liked the fun of Bubble Guppies, the adventure of The Backyardigans, and the warmth of Butterbean’s Café, this wraps it all into one colorful, chaotic, bunny-powered package.

Is there an episode in season one that you are most excited for people to see?

Honestly, we’re proud of all of them—but there are a few where everything just came together in an amazing way… I mean- we did it all on purpose. Ahem. But if we had to name a favorite it might be Awesome Guy with Patrick Warburton. That one was really fun, or awesome, to make from start to finish

As a parent who has seen a million episodes of Bubble Guppies and The Backyardigans, I appreciate a series that I can enjoy and have fun with. My daughters are 12 and 13 and we still sing songs from both. Can you discuss the importance of creating a series that families can watch together, and it will not leave the parents bored to tears?

Super Duper Bunny League Producers Discuss Creating Family Content

Thank you! We love hearing that! One of our goals for the show is to make something that works on multiple levels so there’s something fun for everyone.

We always say: kids come for the fun, but parents stay if there’s something for them too. With Bunnies, we tried to create something smart, silly, and a little surprising—so it’s entertaining for everyone on the couch.

In a world of reboots and revivals, is there any chance that Rocko’s Modern Life could come back?

Robert: Wow, that would be interesting. It really was a product of the era in which it was made, and it was incredibly fun to make. Joe Murray put together an incredible team that I feel lucky to have been a part of. Who knows? Anything’s possible!

The first official teaser for ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires is here, revealing that Zed and Addison are camp counselors but find themselves in a bit of trouble.

ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires Teaser Reveals Trouble At Camp

Today, Disney released the first official sneak peek at “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires,” the latest installment of the music-fueled, smash-hit “ZOMBIES” franchise.

The teaser reunites fan favorites Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly as beloved zombie-cheerleader power couple Zed and Addison while introducing Freya Skye and Malachi Barton as the latest supernatural arrivals: Nova, a fierce Daywalker, and Victor, a proud Vampire.

The Disney Channel Original Movie premieres Thursday, July 10, at 7:00 p.m. EDT/PDT on Disney Channel and will stream globally the next day, Friday, July 11, on Disney+. It will also be available on Disney Channel On Demand.

ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires Sees Zed & Addison Once Again In The Middle Of Conflict

ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires Teaser Reveals Trouble At Camp

While Zed and Addison finally seem to have it all together with their relationship, ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires once again sees them thrust into the center of a conflict. This time between the Daywalkers and the Vampires.

Zed zombies out in the trailer, but seems to have it all under control. Addison, per usual, remains sweet, calm, and collected.

ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires Teaser Reveals Trouble At Camp

In the first three “ZOMBIES” movies, Zed and Addison brought human and monsterkind together in their hometown of Seabrook. Now, a new adventure dawns for the duo when their summer road trip takes an unexpected detour, landing them in the middle of yet another monster rivalry: Daywalkers vs. Vampires.

Tensions flare when Zed and Addison find themselves acting as camp counselors between the two opposing supernatural factions. With the help of Eliza and Willa, they must convince sworn enemies Nova and Victor to try to unite their warring worlds before an even greater threat endangers them all.

In addition to Donnelly, Manheim, Barton and Skye, “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires” stars a multitalented ensemble cast, including Kylee Russell as Eliza, Chandler Kinney as Willa, Julian Lerner as Ray, Swayam Bhatia as Vera, Mekonnen Knife as Vargas, Lisa Chappell as Vampire Eldress, and Jonno Roberts as Commander Bright.

Beloved for its high-energy song-and-dance elements, the next installment in the “ZOMBIES” franchise packs nine new original songs and two reprises of fan-favorite hits, “Someday” and “Ain’t No Doubt About It.” The movie features next-level dance sequences, choreographed by Dondraico Johnson, and an original score composed by Tom Howe.

Paul Hoen, who directed all three previous “ZOMBIES” films, returns to helm this installment. With a screenplay by David Light, Joseph Raso and Josh Cagan, “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires” is executive produced by Hoen, Manheim, Donnelly, Light, Raso, Jane Fleming (“The Quest”) and Mark Ordesky (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy). Mahita P. Simpson serves as co-executive producer alongside co-producer Josh Cagan and producer Skot Bright. “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires” is a production from Night Zone Productions Limited.

This summer, the “Descendants/ZOMBIES: Worlds Collide Tour” will visit over 43 arenas across North America, celebrating the music from “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires” alongside fan-favorite hits from the wildly popular Disney Channel Original Movie franchises “Descendants” and “ZOMBIES.” “ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires” brand extensions will include a cross-category product line of apparel, accessories, costumes, fashion dolls by Mattel and more.

The Last Of Us 2×2: How Just A Few Simple Changes Made It More Emotional

0

The Last of Us season 2 episode 2 changes things up just a little bit from the game, but doing so makes THAT moment even more emotional.

The Last Of Us 2x2: How Just A Few Simple Changes Made It More Emotional

As a gamer I went into this episode of The Last Of Us season 2 knowing exaclty what to expect, but that didn’t make it any easier to watch. From the very first scene where we see the lodge, I knew that The Last Of Us season 2 episode 2 was going to make me cry.

This series has always been an extremely faithful adaptation. It is almost a shot-for-shot remake of the cut scenes and the game that so many know and love. That said, there were a few small changes made in this episode, and yet they somehow just made it even more emotional.

The Last Of Us 2x2: How Just A Few Simple Changes Made It More Emotional

I was immediately taken aback to hear that Joel went on patrol with Dina. In the game, he is with Tommy. Dina essentially plays the same role as Tommy does, not actually witnessing the murder after being knocked out – it was just done so in a different way as Tommy was physically knocked out (and potentially dead) where Dina was just injected with something to make her sleep.

The decision to change this is absolutely brilliant, in my opinion. This allows Tommy to be there in Jackson to help protect the city from the massive horde that breaks in. This is not something that happens in the game, but it was a piece of action that the show needed to help add stress and desperation to the feel of it all.

The Last Of Us 2x2: How Just A Few Simple Changes Made It More Emotional

Joel was torn about whether he should go back, and Abby was forced to consciously make the decision to lead him to slaughter. She was so stuck on revenge that she was willing to put the lives of many others at risk. Watching the way this part of the episode played out was extremely difficult, but necessary.

Because of this, however, Dina does not go with Ellie on patrol, which led to a fan favorite moment from the two of them when they go in the shop filled with weed. At least the shop still made an appearance.

The Last Of Us 2x2: Why Just A Few Simple Changes Made It More Emotional

In The Last Of Us season 2 episode 2, we as viewers learn that Abby wants to kill Joel as revenge for her father, who was the doctor that Joel shot to save Ellie after he realized what the Fireflies were doing. Joel also learns this truth. In the game, not only does Joel never fully understand why he is being killed, those playing do know the doctor was Abby’s father until much, much later.

Because we are not playing the characters and connecting with them in that way, it was smart to reveal the true reason behind Abby’s anger and grief. Audiences can now understand why she does what she does, even if they do not agree with her reasoning. If you think about it, Joel has done very similar things.

The Last Of Us 2x2: Why Just A Few Simple Changes Made It More Emotional

When playing the game, it was heartbreaking to think that Joel did not know the full extent as to why he was dying. In this episode, it was even more devastating to think that Ellie is now in the same situation as Abby is. He has to know on some level that Ellie will want to avenge his death, and will not stop until she does, or until she is killed herself.

Joel is so badly beaten that he cannot explain this to Ellie, or try to offer some advice to just let things go. This broke my heart to see, especially as a parent.

The Last Of Us 2x2: Why Just A Few Simple Changes Made It More Emotional

One very small change that probably broke me the most is that Joel tries to get up when Ellie tells him to. He musters everything he has and can only lift a few centimeters off the ground, but he does this for her, which is very telling.

He may not be her actual father, but he is the closest she has to one. She even said they were going to do a patrol as a “daddy-daughter” thing at the start of The Last Of Us season 2 episode 2, which is even more devastating.

The Last Of Us 2x2: Why Just A Few Simple Changes Made It More Emotional

Kaitlyn Dever is phenomenal in this episode. It is impossible not to feel her hurt and anger, and at least see where she is coming from. Kicking the episode off with the nightmare about her father helps to create that sympathy from the audience, although surely most will be furious with her for killing Joel, especially after he saved her life.

Bella Ramsey is also incredible, as always, really feeling their emotions during that key moment and helping translate it to viewers. Pedro Pascal goes out with a bang, delivering on every single emotional beat, per usual.

It is hard to say for sure that this version was more brutal and made me more emotional because of the changes, or if it is because these feelings are packed on top of the ones I felt while playing the games. Still, I rather like what the creatives did with The Last Of Us season 2 episode 2 and cannot wait to see what they have in store for the rest of this season and season 3.

Andor Season 2 Review: Thrilling, Captivating, & Pretty Darn Perfect

Andor season 2 brilliantly details the events in the years leading up to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It’s captivating, thrilling, and pretty darn perfect.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is my favorite Star Wars film, hands down, so it should come as no surprise that I loved the first season of Andor, even though I felt like it took a while to get going. Now that we have established the unknown characters and gotten to know more about returning ones, Andor season 2 hits the ground running and never looks back, brilliantly setting up for what is to come in Rogue One.

While the first season revealed the events that took place five years before Rogue One, season two is split into four years, spanning over three episodes each. This allows the momentum to keep moving and the season to stay at a solid pace, never slowing down.

There is a lot happening – think of most of the season as a political thriller – so knowing that each group of three episodes takes place over one year allows viewers to keep track of things easily. It also helps as we inch closer and closer to the devastating things that are to come.

Deedra Meero (Denise Gough) in Lucasfilm’s ANDOR Season 2, exclusively on Disney+. ©2024 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All Rights Reserved.

Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor is, of course, at the center of the series; however, there are several other characters that have key roles, and boy do they shine when given their time to. Denise Gough’s Deedra Meero is one of them, especially in the final few episodes. She is one of those characters that fans will surely love to hate – if they do not already do so.

Andor Season 2 Review: Thrilling, Captivating, & Pretty Darn Perfect
Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) in Lucasfilm’s ANDOR Season 2, exclusively on Disney+. ©2025 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All Rights Reserved.

Stellan Skarsgård’s Luthen Rael was established as a very important piece of the puzzle in Andor season 1, and he continues that trend in season 2. His relationship with Cassian, his strength and faith in the rebellion, and the things he is willing to do are all a major part of the story this season.

(L-R) Mon Mothra (Genevieve O’Reilly) and Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgard) in Lucasfilm’s ANDOR Season 2, exclusively on Disney+. ©2024 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All Rights Reserved.

Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothra has her story expanded throughout the season as well. We know where she ends up, but to see the path she took to get there is both thrilling and captivating. That is part of what I love so much about Andor. We know the end result, which means seeing the roads that were taken to get there is that much more exciting.

Andor Season 2 Review: Thrilling, Captivating, & Pretty Darn Perfect
Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) in Lucasfilm’s ANDOR Season 2, exclusively on Disney+. ©2025 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All Rights Reserved.

Then we come to Ben Mendelsohn’s Krennic. One of my favorite villains of all time and a character that can send a shiver down my spine when I simply think of him. The things that he pulls off this season are truly terrifying. Even though he is not in Andor season 2 very often, when he is, he leaves a lasting impression.

Episode 11, in particular, is one that gave me literal chills and made the hair on my arms stand on end. This is Mendelsohn’s best role, in my opinion, which is not said lightly considering he is a phenomenal actor.

Just when I thought there was no way I could love K-2SO any more than I already did, I watched the Andor season 2 finale, and somehow now I do. He has been my favorite droid for some time now, but what he does in Andor season 2, episode 12, had me cracking up. He is a badass, and I love him for it.

Andor Season 2 Review: Thrilling, Captivating, & Pretty Darn Perfect
(L-R) Vel Sartha (Faye Marsay) and Cinta Kaz (Varada Sethu) in Lucasfilm’s ANDOR Season 2, exclusively on Disney+. ©2025 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All Rights Reserved.

I truly believe that because the creatives behind this series knew that they were only going to do only two seasons from the start, and they had a plan for them, it allowed Andor to be one of the best things on television. It seamlessly blends into Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with a final few minutes that will leave viewers shook and rethinking everything they know.

There are a lot of great action scenes, as well as heartwarming (and heartbreaking) moments, but at its core, this is an on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller. You might think you know what is coming, but I promise you, your world is about to be flipped upside down.

About Andor Season 2

Lucasfilm’s Emmy®-nominated thriller Andor, returns for its long-awaited conclusion on April 22. The second season takes place as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance.

Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound. Rife with political intrigue and danger, the series is a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which portrayed a heroic band of rebels who steal the plans to the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction—The Death Star—setting the stage for the events of the original 1977 film.

Andor sets the clock back five years from the events of Rogue One to tell the story of the film’s hero, Cassian Andor, and his transformation from disinterested, cynical nobody into a rebel hero on his way to an epic destiny.

Andor Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on April 22 with three episodes. Each week, three more will be released until the finale on May 13.
