The Beatles: Let It Be has been restored in a beautifully brilliant way. This documentary originally came out over fifty years ago, in 1970, but now it looks and sounds better than ever. Available on Disney+ May 8th, this is something that fans will not want to miss.
The documentary itself gives fans an inside look at The Beatles during a time that, it turns out, was one of the toughest for them. It captures the writing and recording of Let It Be, their penultimate album. This has been called their best album by many fans, and is certainly one of their most memorable.
The Beatles: Let It Be makes viewers feel like they are a fly on the wall. There is something truly special about watching these four come up with some of their most popular songs. Seeing the creative process unfold is an absolute wonder. The Beatles: Get Back showed a lot of this, but it is important to note that that documentary only exists because of the footage that was recorded for Let It Be.
That being said, the director had to completely pivot his plans when George left The Beatles. This documentary, and Get Back which followed it much more recently, became about the bortherhood these men shared.
Overall, fans of The Beatles will be thrilled at how this documentary was restored. We were lucky enough to see it in a theater setting and while that will not be possible for everyone, viewers will still surely notice how incredible the visuals now look.

“Let It Be” – at last.
Available for the first time in over 50 years, “Let It Be,” director Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s original 1970 film about The Beatles, will launch on Disney+ May 8, 2024. First released in May 1970 amidst the swirl of The Beatles’ breakup, “Let It Be” now takes its rightful place in the band’s history.
Once viewed through a darker lens, the film is now brought to light through its restoration and in the context of revelations brought forth in Peter Jackson’s multiple Emmy Award®-winning docuseries, “The Beatles: Get Back.” Released on Disney+ in 2021, the docuseries showcases the iconic foursome’s warmth and camaraderie, capturing a pivotal moment in music history.
“Let It Be,” which contains footage not featured in the “Get Back” docuseries, brings viewers into the studio and onto Apple Corps’ London rooftop in January 1969 as The Beatles, joined by Billy Preston, write, and record their GRAMMY Award®-winning album Let It Be, with its Academy Award®-winning title song, and perform live for the final time as a group.
With the release of “The Beatles: Get Back,” fan clamour for the original “Let It Be” film reached a fever pitch. With Lindsay-Hogg’s full support, Apple Corps asked Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production to dive into a meticulous restoration of the film from the original 16mm negative, which included lovingly remastering the sound using the same MAL de-mix technology that was applied to the “Get Back” docuseries.
