Cop Secret isn’t even close to a perfect movie, but it manages to be a whole lot of fun for those in the mood for an action comedy.
For those who enjoy an action packed, over the top, ridiculous movie, Cop Secret is for you. If you easily get annoyed by jokes that go on for far too long, perhaps you should skip it. This movie is about police working to solve a string of bank robberies, and while it is entertaining enough, it is made for a certain group of people.
The toughest cop in Iceland wants nothing more than to solve these robberies, and of course he is paired with another officer that he does not get along with. These leads to a predictable, but entertaining, series of events.
The best part of Cop Secret is the action. There are some absolutely wild scenes that are a pure joy to watch. They might be over the top, but that feels like the point, and makes them even more enjoyable. There is fighting, gun violence, and quite a bit of blood as well. Let’s not forget the torture.
This is where the cast really shines. It is quite obvious that they are having the time of their lives, which makes the movie easier to get through. While the dialogue doesn’t always work (to be honest, it falters more often than not), there is still some fun to be had.
If you don’t take Cop Secret too seriously, you are sure to have fun with it — the actors did after all. There are times where it seems that the movie is trying to take itself seriously, and that is when it suffers. But when it goes balls to the wall with the action, it excels.
Cop Secret feels like a parody film in that it goes a bit too far too often. However, it really is a lot of fun thanks to the action and ridiculous humor. It certainly isn’t perfect, and is even a struggle to get through at times, but the cast having an absolute blast makes it nothing short of entertaining.
