Simu Liu says that he was extremely nervous on the set of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and it was like imposter syndrome.

The entire cast for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is phenomenal, and that all comes through in the film. Simu Liu, who plays the title character, Shang-Chi, cannot believe he was cast in the role, which Marvel President Kevin Feige says was due to his sheer talent.
However, Liu admits that it felt very surreal on the set, and even like imposter syndrome. “Truly it was such a treat. It was all I could do just to not mess it up. When I was first cast, I did my final screen test with [Awkwafina], and she did such a wonderful job of putting me at ease.” He says they were in the moment together and had beautiful chemistry.
Liu goes on to say that his nerves were sky high. “I was an actor from Toronto, and I really had never allowed myself to imagine being a part of the MCU. It’s the craziest dream that someone can possibly dream.”

Liu jokes that him and Akwafina had “bickery old couple chemistry like right from the get-go.” He says that as he me more members of the cast, like Tony, Michells, and Sir Ben, the members of the cast like Tony, Michelle, and Sir Ben, “every day it was like waking up to another dream.”
He says that he cannot wait for fans to see the movie, because he feels the beautiful chemistry comes across on the screen, something that many critics who have seen it agree with, this one included.
