My Little Pony is a favorite of ours so we are thrilled that Friendship is Magic continues with season 10 – in comic book form!
I grew up watching My Little Pony and I was obsessed as a child. I had everything. Toys, bed sheets, clothing. If it existed I had it. Fast forward some years and now my two daughters are into My Little Pony. I cannot express how much I love that we can connect over this show. They have all the toys (boy do I wish I kept mine!), movies, clothing, dolls — everything!
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is a show that my whole family enjoys. And I don’t just mean me and my daughters. My husband is a huge fan as well! We became very invested in Twilight, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack and their lives. The show ended with season nine in October of 2019 but recently, we got the best news!
Not only is Friendship Is Magic going to continue into season 10 — it is going to do so in comic book form. Well if you know me, I am a massive comic book nerd! And so is the rest of my family. We were over the moon thrilled. Today, that first issue from IDW is out!
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Comic Books
Now just to explain, there has been a long running My Little Pony series from IDW (and yes, we collect them), but My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #89 is the official start of season 10! It also picks up right where the hit show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic left off, and you can grab it at your local comic shop today!
One of the reasons I love My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic so much is that includes important stories that focus on the power of friendship, teamwork, and problem solving. As a parent, these are comics I not only like my daughters to read, I encourage them to read them.
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #89 Review
Within the first few pages fans of the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic show will be over the moon excited to see all the ponies they know and love make an appearance. They do a really good job of catching the reader up, in case they haven’t watched the series (although you should totally watch the series!).
My daughters and I were immediately sucked in to the plot and cannot wait to know more! The gang is going to be all split up and going on their own adventures to meet new friends and allies of Equestria. Well, Twilight will be staying to run Equestria of course. But the others are not exploring on their own, they will be teamed up with characters we have seen throughout the TV series and film.
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #89 focuses mostly on Apple Jack, Zecora, Rockhoof, and Tempest Shadow, as they head to the Zebra Homeland. Zecora is not happy about being chosen to go back home, and she will not say why. Things get awkward with her friends when she arrives and I cannot wait to see what exactly is her reasoning behind this.
Everything about this issue is perfect. It is a great lead in to a written season 10, and the artwork is simply amazing. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series with my girls!
