Mama’s Geeky: What was it like building the sibling relationship between Yuru and Asa?
Ben Stegmair: Getting to know Molly has helped immensely. That sibling relationship between Yuru and Asa and how much they care for each other has really helped a lot.
Molly Zhang: As Asa is getting to know her brother, I’ve been getting to know Ben more. As I get to know Ben more, the character starts making more sense to me. Family dynamics are such a powerful driving force in storytelling.
Mama’s Geeky: If someone knew nothing about Daemons of the Shadow Realm, what scene would you show them?
Ben Stegmair: The gobble scene. I think that scene has gone everywhere on the internet and introduced people to the show.
Molly Zhang: It’s the shock value, the bloodiness, the action. It’s a great introduction to the power system of this entire world.
Mama’s Geeky: What has been your favorite thing about playing these characters?
Ben Stegmair: These characters have so much depth and so many layers. What character you get depends on the situation they’re in.
Molly Zhang: I love when Asa transitions in the same scene from normal to serious. The voice gets slightly deeper and sharper. That’s the most fun thing to do.
