The Critical Role panel delivered exciting news for fans, spotlighting their upcoming animated series The Mighty Nein while dropping a few major updates on The Legend of Vox Machina.

The main focus of the panel was The Mighty Nein, based on Critical Role’s second campaign. The show follows a ragtag group of outcasts and fugitives who are thrown together by circumstance. When a powerful magical artifact known as “The Beacon” falls into dangerous hands, the group must put their differences aside to protect the realm—and reality itself—from unraveling.

We were introduced to the show’s primary antagonists: the Volstruckers, a deadly group of wizard assassins. Sam Riegel described them as ruthless and trauma-fueled, and a clip shown to attendees at the Indigo Ballroom backed that up. The footage featured an intense, bloody heist where the Volstruckers used dark magic and brutal force to slaughter guards while hunting for the Beacon. The animation looked flawless, highlighting just how formidable this group will be.

Another exclusive clip gave fans their first look at the titular heroes, The Mighty Nein. The first time we meet them, they’re in hot water—being interrogated after a mission goes horribly wrong, resulting in bodies, transformations, and a mysterious creature escaping. The scene introduced six members of the group: Nott the Brave, Caleb Widogast, Jester Lavorre, Fjord Stone, Beauregard Lionett, and Mollymauk Tealeaf. The chemistry between them was instantly apparent, with Nott and Jester stealing the scene. The humor and chaos felt like something out of Guardians of the Galaxy, setting the tone for a darker but still irreverent adventure.

The voice cast is stacked, with all the original players returning:

    • Marisha Ray as Beauregard “Beau” Lionett
    • Taliesin Jaffe as Mollymauk “Molly” Tealeaf
    • Ashley Johnson as Yasha Nydoorin
    • Liam O’Brien as Caleb Widogast
    • Travis Willingham as Fjord Stone
    • Laura Bailey as Jester Lavorre
    • Sam Riegel as Nott the Brave
    • Matthew Mercer as Essek Thelyss

Joining them are some major guest stars: Mark Strong, Alan Cumming, Tim McGraw, Anika Noni Rose, Ming-Na Wen, Auli’i Cravalho, Rahul Kohli, Robbie Daymond, and Jonathan Frakes.

Mighty Nein premieres November 19 and is being billed as a darker, more intense series than Vox Machina.

As for The Legend of Vox Machina, fans were thrilled to learn that it has been officially renewed through season 5—which will also be its final season. Season 4 arrives in 2026 and introduces a new party member, Taryon Darrington, as the crew attempts to break into the mysterious Cobalt Archive.

Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham expressed their gratitude to the fans, saying they never expected to make it this far and are honored to tell the complete story.
