SDCC 2025: Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe: Press Conference and After-Party Recap. The cast of both series attended and teased what’s coming next.

AMC took San Diego Comic-Con by storm this year, with the spotlight shining brightly on its ever-expanding Immortal Universe. Anne Rice’s The Talamasca: What You Need to Know

The press conference began with an in-depth look at The Talamasca, a thrilling new series that follows a secretive society dedicated to tracking supernatural entities such as vampires, witches, and werewolves. Season 1 will primarily focus on vampires and witches, but future seasons promise to expand the mythos even further — though, as Mark Lafferty noted, “We’re not introducing new creatures just to do it. Everything has to feel earned.”
The cast described the first season as a genre-bending ride — thrilling, emotional, and surprisingly funny. Maisie Richardson-Sellers shared, “I’m excited for audiences to see the blend of genres — it’s a traditional spy show with the supernatural mixed in, and it really works.”
John Lee Hancock added, “We wanted Talamasca to feel like a restaurant down the street from the others in the Immortal Universe — it’s connected, but it stands on its own. Crossovers are treated as organic surprises, not obligations.”
The show also stands out for its deeply flawed and human characters, despite the supernatural setting. As Richardson-Sellers put it, “It felt like anyone could be a vampire. The real world and the Immortal world blend together so well that, while filming, I kept looking over my shoulder expecting something to be lurking in the shadows.”
The Talamasca premieres **Sunday, October 26th at 9/8c on AMC.
The Vampire Lestat: A New Chapter Begins

Next, the spotlight shifted to the third season of Interview with the Vampire, now officially titled The Vampire Lestat. This season shifts perspective, putting Lestat front and center as he reclaims his story — with a rock star twist. Inspired by Anne Rice’s second novel, The Vampire Lestat, this new season promises to be a bold and introspective journey.
Composer Daniel Hart discussed how music plays a crucial role this season. “We didn’t want the songs to just move the plot forward — they had to feel raw, vulnerable, and emotionally honest. That’s how Lestat expresses himself.” Hart cited Robert Plant and classic rock influences as a foundation for Lestat’s musical persona, while Jacob Anderson revealed that if Lestat were to sing a cover for Louis, it would be “Bloodsport” — one of Anderson’s own songs.
Showrunner Rolin Jones teased that Season 3 explores the theme of mortality through Lestat’s eyes:
“He’s been a performative vampire for so long. But this time, he’s confronting something deeper. There’s a transformation happening — it’s thrilling, terrifying, and something Lestat is not prepared for. It’s a real Hamlet situation.”
Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson both expressed excitement about the emotional depths this season explores, promising fans a powerful evolution in both storytelling and performance.
Interview with the Vampire season 3 is set to premiere in 2026.
Final Thoughts
AMC’s Immortal Universe continues to grow in scope and ambition, and both The Talamasca and The Vampire Lestat are pushing boundaries in exciting, genre-defying ways. From deep character exploration to rich worldbuilding and music-driven storytelling, this Comic-Con presentation made one thing clear — the Anne Rice universe is in very good hands.
