Brenna D’Amico is like you have never seen in the horror short, Adjoining. In this interview, she compares that character to her Descendants’ Jane.
Brenna D’Amico, who is well known for her role as Jane in Disney’s Descendants franchise, is turning the tables with her new role as Milly in Adjoining. While we do not want to divulge much about the horror short in order to keep the twists and turns a secret, just know that D’Amico’s performance is incredible.
Adjoining synopsis: A couple’s motel stay takes a chilling turn when they discover they’re being observed, leading to unexpected consequences. Adjoining is a nostalgic take on our current societal fears of privacy, always being watched or recorded.
Brenna D’Amico Had A Lot Of Fun Filming Adjoining
Tessa Smith: What was it that drew you to Adjoining? And how fun was it to play Milly?
Brenna D’Amico: When [Peter Roumeliotis] brought it to me, I read it and he asked me who I could see myself as, and I was like, Milly. I was like, I think I can really sink into the over the top aspect of her. I would love to play her. She just seems so fun and twisted.
I was having a blast. I got into the mindset, maybe it’s cause I’m a little twisted as a human too. Not, to the extent of her, but I was like, you know what? I gotta not judge her. I gotta find why she loves what she does. Her being the slam poet that brings the good vibes. It was definitely a really fun one to do.
The Adjoining Cast Works Extremely Well Together
Tessa Smith: Can you talk about finding the right dynamic with the other two actors, Carter Glade and Sid Noelle?
Brenna D’Amico: I’m so happy that we had the privilege of being so close. I got to bring Carter Gladen, who I’ve known for years. We have certain scenes together that are, not the most, everybody thinks like, oh, kissing scenes, whatever, being in a couple with somebody, it’s not always the most comfortable when you’re on set, even though a lot of people think differently, but being friends with him, and being able to talk about it a little bit before doing some of the excessive smooching was definitely needed because they are in your face kind of people. They are that. We want people to be uncomfortable by the intimacy at times. So having that conversation and just working with somebody that has your back and is so comfortable, was definitely great.
And then Sid, I just met when we got there and she’s incredible. We wanted to talk a little bit about how our characters were with each other, but we kind of wanted to leave it a mystery for both of us. So we could keep that mystery aspect.
Jane “Would Run Away Crying” If She Was In Adjoining
Tessa Smith: Jane, your Descendants character is very different.
Brenna D’Amico: Jane would never. Can you imagine? That’s another movie. I feel like she would run away crying.
Tessa Smith: Can you talk about your experience on the Descendants films?
Brenna D’Amico: I had the best childhood ever, I really did, because of it. I’m so grateful. It still feels very surreal for me to be a part of that franchise. But it was just the best. Everybody says, oh my gosh, we were a family. The cliche, but it’s true. We loved each other all so much. A lot of us still talk. Little memories on my phone pop up of filming Descendants and I watch them all the way through every time. I love listening to the music still, as well. But it was amazing. It feels almost like a dream.
