Next On Netflix: Animation Takeaways
Netflix has become a go-to destination for animation with more than 130M households watching a variety of animation every month. Here’s what fans can look forward to with new films and series, and returning favorites:
- Adult series from action with Arcane, Twilight of the Gods, and Terminator Zero, to comedy with Exploding Kittens and the final season of Big Mouth.
- Following the success of all-audience hits like The Sea Beast and Leo, come new films including The Imaginary, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, Spellbound, That Christmas, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, The Twits, K-Pop: Demon Hunters, Plankton: The Movie, Pookoo; and series like Motel Transylvania and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
- Preschool shows featuring little ones’ favorite friends with CoComelon, CoComelon Lane, and Gabby’s Dollhouse, which collectively amassed more than 650M views last year.
- Anime series Tokyo Override and Leviathan, and films Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos The Movie and My Oni Girl. Anime fandom continues to grow at Netflix where programming topped more than one billion views in 2023.

From the team behind the beloved Netflix series CoComelon Lane comes “CoComelon Lane: The Nursery Rhyme Musical,” premiering on Netflix August 19. In the 30-minute special episode, Cece and her friends want to do something special to celebrate their teacher, so they put on a musical based on all of their favorite classic nursery rhymes!
Exploding Kittens
On Netflix July 12, 2024
Earth sucks, so God (Tom Ellis) gets fired and sent to Earth to reconnect with humanity. The catch? He’s trapped in the body of a chubby house cat. As part of his rehabilitation, he moves in with a dysfunctional family and tries to solve their problems, but ends up spending a lot of time chasing laser pointers. And to top it off, Godcat’s next-door neighbor, who is also a cat, turns out to be none other than his nemesis, the Antichrist. The result is the ultimate fight between good versus evil…except, Godcat (Ellis) is distracted by a pigeon he saw in the yard and Devilcat (Sasheer Zamata) is busy napping on someone’s laptop.
Of course, we also have a ton of animation that is geared more for adults, including combustible comedies like Exploding Kittens, based on the wildly popular card game. That series debuts next month.

And today, Netflix announces that “The Terminator” will be voiced by Timothy Olyphant. Terminator Zero is created by Mattson Tomlin, and animated by Production IG Studio. And audiences everywhere will get to see it on “Judgement Day” — August 29th — only on Netflix.

Twilight of the Gods was a show that we’ve been working on for quite some time – years in the making actually. I’ve always been obsessed with Norse mythology. I think it’s an amazing place. I love mythology in general, and so the idea of actually being able to dig into this rich tapestry of heroes and gods was an incredible opportunity for both of us. And this show is really a story. It’s a story about love and revenge, and it just takes us across this massive and beautiful landscape in pursuit of, well, you’ll have to see now.
