Xolo Maridueña teases that Cobra Kai season 6 is the best one yet, and talks Blue Beetle’s DC future, during an interview at the Saturn Awards.
The sixth and final season of Cobra Kai is currently filming, and we caught up with Xolo Maridueña, who plays Miguel Diaz, at the Saturn Awards to see if there is anything he can tease. One thing is for sure, it is obvious how proud he is to be a part of this series, and how excited he is for the fans to see it.
While Netflix has not announced a release date, it was initially said that Cobra Kai season 6 would release sometime in 2024. After the Hollywood strikes, it remains uncertain if they will hit that planned time frame, but we can hope.
Xolo Maridueña Teases Cobra Kai Season 6
When asked about Cobra Kai season 6, Xolo Maridueña immediately claims “it’s the best one, that’s for damn sure.” While he doesn’t go into details, he claims that it feels as if they have worked the hardest on this one. “We’ve only been working for a month at this point, and I can already tell that this is going to be the most fantastic one.”
Xolo knows that the Cobra Kai series only exists because of the films. “I just want to congratulate also the originals, the OGs, Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, of course, Ralph and Billy, because they get to really close this chapter of this insane part of their life.”
He goes on to say that, “to get to bear witness to it and get to do it alongside them is an honor.” It sounds as if Cobra Kai season 6 is going to be a fitting end to the series, which is what fans are hoping for.
While we are sad to say goodbye to it, doing so in a way that respectfully closes the door on it is what we are all wanting to see.
Xolo Maridueña also recently joined the DC Universe as Blue Beetle. When asked if the stunt work in Cobra Kai helped him with his performance in Blue Beetle, he admits that it did, “100%.”
But that isn’t all that set him up for success as the first Latino superhero on screen, “from the stunts to the pacing to getting to witness Billy and Ralph on Cobra Kai lead that show, it really, I feel like, prepared me well to lead my own film.”
He continues, “I brought a lot of the love that we use on Cobra Kai to Blue Beetle. And I hope that that’s translated.” Well, it certainly did, as Xolo Maridueña is the heart and soul of that film and had audiences everywhere falling in love with the new hero, and begging for more.
Xolo says that Blue Beetle will be back, and if he has his way, he would love to see him team up with Batman, because he loves them together in Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series. “If they ever bring Blue Beetle and Batman together, that’d be a bit of pleasure.”
James Gunn has already said that we will be getting a the Brave and the Bold film, so could this be where we see Blue Beetle next? It certainly seems that way.
Cobra Kai season 6 should be releasing on Netflix in 2024.
