The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live brings Rick and Michonne back, which long time fans will be thrilled to see. It should be noted this review is based solely on the first four episodes of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

Fans of Rick Grimes have been waiting what feels like forever for his return to The Walking Dead, and with the new series, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, we get it. While he might not be the same old Rick we know and love, he is back, and he is going to do everything in his power to reunite with Michonne, that much is clear.

Michonne may not have been gone from the franchise nearly as long as Rick has been, but that doesn’t mean that fans of hers are not wanting to see her again. She, just like Rick, is ready and willing to do whatever she can to find the love of her life, who she has never given up hope on.

These two have been through a lot, as we witnessed during The Walking Dead series. Now, years since we last saw Rick, the two are determined to reunite. However, there are many obstacles in the way — and not just the dead.

We learn a lot more about the people in the helicopter that took Rick away, and the mission that they are on. Because of this we are introduced to lots more characters, each of which brings something entertaining and exciting to the table.

But that’s not all. We are also treated the return of Jadis. While we will not disclose much information surrounding this, we can say that it is a very satisfying plot point, and that we cannot wait to see where this goes in the rest of the season.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is top tier The Walking Dead. It feels like the early seasons again and wastes no time finding its footing. This could certainly be because we have Rick back, a character that fans have been missing for far too long, but it is the love story that knows no bounds between him and Michonne that makes this something special.

Both new and familiar in the best way possible, but still unique and exciting. A love story set in the worst of times, it is intense but delivers lots of heart, too.

    Rating: 4.5 out of 5

About The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

Stars Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira return as the beloved TWD characters “Rick Grimes” and “Michonne” in the highly anticipated next series in the Walking Dead Universe. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world.

Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?

The highly anticipated new series in the Walking Dead Universe will premiere Sunday, February 25 at 9:00pm ET on AMC and AMC+.
