Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Mid Credit Scene Explained

In the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 end credit scene, the new Guardians of the Galaxy team is seen sitting on a planet, while they wait for their foes to show up. They are talking about music and their favorite songs. Rocket says that the tune he is going to pick for their fight has a lot of meaning behind it. He chooses “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone, which will hit every Guardians of the Galaxy fan in the gut after the emotional rollercoaster they just went through — because it is the first song heard in the trilogy.

So who are the new Guardians of the Galaxy? The team features most people that we already know. Of course it is now led by Rocket Raccoon. It includes Groot (who has grown quite a bit!), Kraglin, and Cosmo. Nebula is busy being the mayor, or leader anyways, of Knowhere and has enlisted Drax’s help with the children. There are two new additions, Adam Warlock, which should come as no surprise as he is an important member in the comic books, and one of the children that was rescued from the High Evolutionary.

The little girl is none other than Phyla-Vell. In the comic books she has a close link to Adam Warlock’s evil alter ego, Magus, as well as Star-Lord and Adam Warlock. She has also used the codenames Captain Marvel and Quasar. She is extremely powerful and boasts superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, and reflexes.

Phyla uses the negabands to absorb and release energy. These bands are being featured in the upcoming MCU film The Marvels and were introduced in Ms. Marvel. Will there be a tie-in there? You never know. Nothing is ever done on accident when it comes to Marvel.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 End Credit Scene Explained

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 end credit scene shows Star-Lord at his grandfather’s house. He is sitting at the breakfast table while his grandfather speaks to him about mowing a neightbor’s lawn. Peter says that it will be quite awkward to do in front of the neighbors perfectly abled 45 year old son, but he is happy to help. Featured on the newspaper that is being read is “Alien Abduction: Kevin Bacon Tells All” which is a nod to the holiday special.

The final words on screen tell fans that The Legendary Star-Lord will return. With him taking a break from the Guardians of the Galaxy, what does this mean? Star-Lord and Adam Warlock have a heavy history in the comic books, especially once Magus comes out to play. Will we get an epic showdown between the two? Only time will tell, but we are thankful this isn’t the end for Chris Pratt in the MCU.

About Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

In Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past.

Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter and Maria Bakalova.

James Gunn is the director and also wrote the screenplay. Kevin Feige produces with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Sara Smith and Simon Hatt serving as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is in theaters now.
