The Legend Of Vox Machina Season 2
Episode 4: Those Who Walk Away

The Legend Of Vox Machina season 2 episode 3 left off on a devastating note. Vex was laying on the ground, seemingly dead, after Percy and her discovered a tomb in the sunken temple. Vax, her twin brother, stares at her helpless, unable to believe what is happening. Throughout the first few episodes, he has seen a mysterious figure, and she once again appears here. She turns out to be the Matron of Ravens and she is there to usher Vex into the afterlife.

As no one besides Vax can see her, the others work frantically to save her life — including Zahra and Kashaw who have returned after coming up empty handed when searching for the vestige. They are trying spells to resuscitate her, but feel that all is lost. In a last ditch effort to save his sister’s life, Vax calls out to the Matron, begging her to take him instead.

The Matron hears him and responds, sending Vex back to the world of the living. However, it is unknown exactly what Vax has given up in exchange for Vex’s life. He is wearing the fancy new armor though, the vestige, and says that he does not know how it ended up on him.

Kashaw takes the credit for saving Vex, and as they are leaving the temple, Zahra once again tests Vox Machina. She releases a monster from an amulet she wears around her neck, leaving them to fight it. Stating that they will be worthy of the vestige should they beat it. Kashaw does not like this and he decides to leave her and help Vox Machina out.

The creature turns them all to stone, even Zahra who saw that it was getting out of control. Vex is not really helping in the fight as he seems to be transported elsewhere, at least mentally, where he must battle against the Matron of Ravens champion in an effort to claim the title for himself. Lucky for everyone Vax’s vestige allows him to be faster and a whole lot more powerful, and he conquers the monster, saving the lives of them all.

Zahra admits that she was wrong, and takes her leave with Kashaw. before she does so though, she gifts her amulet to Vex, telling her that it leads to a pocket dimension where she can store something for later use. She decides to use it for Trinket, even though Grog is begging for a turn.

The Legend Of Vox Machina Season 2
Episode 5: Pass Through Fire

While traveling to find the next Vestige of Divergence, Vox Machina passes by Pyrah, home to the Fire Ashari people. The broom that Scanlan took from Gilmore’s has writing on it, and this is when he learns it is a flying broom. Anyone who recites the word will make it fly. He does this and sees that the volcano is erupting in Pryah, something Keyleth says should not be happening.

When Keyleth realizes that the village is under attack, she urges Vox Machina to take a detour. Vax refuses to do so, and Keyleth goes off on her own. Ultimately, the rest of the gang convinces Vax to help out, stating that Keyleth would do anything for them — but especially for him.

Keyleth discovers her father, and friends that they thought were killed in the battle of Emon, battling fire creatures that are spilling out into the world through a portal to another dimension. They are trying to close the portal, and they are thankful for her help. She has been scared to go through her trials all this time, for fear of failing, but she is forced to look within herself and learn what she can truly do.

In the middle of some truly epic action sequences, Keyleth is able to walk through the portal where she transforms into a massive fire creature and stops the creatures by closing the portal. At the end of the episode we see the Chroma Conclave gathering offerings of gold from the cities that they are taking over.

Episode 6: Into Rimecleft

As Vox Machina reaches the location of Kamaljiori – the mate of Osysa – they must now face his trials to prove themselves. He gives them a choice and they all opt to try to make him feel pain. They fight him one by one and each of them is failing. It ends up all on the shoulders of Scanlan, who realizes that they need to emotionally hurt him instead of physically hurt him.

Scanlan makes up a song about Osysa, and performs it along with stunning visuals of the two sphinx. Kamaljiori cries as his heart hurts because he misses her. They must be separated as they are the last two remaining sphinx and that is the safest choice. Because he succeeds the rest of Vox Machina are freed and Scanlan is given the next Vestige of Divergence – a sword which will reveal the location of the remaining ones. He sees that one is in a place called the Fae Realm and another is in a city that is overrun by the Grog’s kind.

Almost immediately though, one of the dragons show up and a massive battle ensues. Grog is starting to lose control over the bloodsword, especially after it gets a taste of the dragon’s blood. The fight is intense, and will have viewers on the edge of their seats. While Kamaljiori does what he can to protect Vox Machina, he is ultimately killed, being no match for the dragon.

Pike realizes what is happening with Grog and she refuses to see him fall to the dark side. Keyleth is busy concocting a spell to transport them away from the fight, knowing that they cannot win. When Pike tries to get Grog to leave with them, he accidentally stabs her instead of the dragon. This wakes him up and they rush to where Keyleth is creating a transport. Pike is not looking good and Grog is carrying her. Keyleth’s spell works, and they arrive in the Fae Realm. However, Vox Machina is missing Grog, Pike, and Scanlan, who must have ended up elsewhere.

The dragon takes the sword and leaves after Vox Machina escape.
