The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 7 ends with one of the best scenes of the series, but how is the rest of it?

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 7 Review
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 7 immediately starts to deal with the aftermath of the eruption we saw at the end of episode 6. This is very much appreciated because all too often viewers are forced to wait for the middle of the episode to really dive into that. The episode opens up with Galadriel.
The world around her is filled with ash, and the lighting choice here is simply perfect. The sepia really sets the tone for how things are going for them, and sucks the audience into the story.

While the episodes that have focused heavily on just a couple of the many, many main characters have been at the top of the list for this series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 7 does a great job with giving each of them their own time. They all have something pretty major going on, and now the stories are starting to tie together and set up for what long time Tolkien fans know is coming.
Yes, it took a little while to get here, but for good reason. We needed to get to know the new characters, as well as get to know this time in the lives of popular characters that will continue on in The Lord of the Rings lore. It is imperative that we get to see this side of them for the future of The Rings of Power to work.
That said, it feels like we have all but moved past the set up, and we are in the endgame now. As this season comes to a close it is clear they are not holding anything back going into the finale.

This episode not only gives us the time with characters that we need, it also gives viewers quite a bit of time with the stories. As we said, everything is coming together now and it very exciting to see. It might have been a slow burn to get here, but now that we are in it, having that world and character building is very much appreciated.
There are some great fights in this episode, and some truly stunning visuals. But the best part about The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 7 is the final shot. It will send shivers down the spines of fans everywhere, and we cannot wait to see what happens in the season final next week.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead For The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 7
If you have not yet watched the episode and do not want spoilers, stop reading here. These will be minor spoilers, but we are going to discuss some things that occurred in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 7 in detail.
In this episode we get back to the Harfoots’ journey, and while it is nice to spend time with them, it is extremely frustrating to witness the way they treat The Stranger. They were scared of him at first, and even downright mean to him. But now, thanks to the aftermath of the eruption, they ask him for help with the trees and fixing up their camp. Of course, he does what he can to help, but seeing him being taken advantage of it quite annoying.
Of course this was not Nori and her family, but the other Harfoots that did this. Even toward the end of the episode, when they go after him, far too little Harfoots volunteer immediately to help.

One of the best parts of this episode is spent with Durin IV and Elrond. After failing at convincing the King to help the elves, there is a lot of sadness going around. Both feel like this will truly be the end of the elves, and the following scenes about that are very well acted and emotionally written. Elrond leaving the tree leaf on the mithril table was not only brilliant for the character to do, but helps convey the importance of this ore to the viewers as well.
Of course this is when Durin IV and his wife decide to help Elrond no matter what his father says. During the following confrontation between the two dwarves, some important lessons poke through. Not only about standing up for what is right, but about not being scared all the time, and not coddling your child.
The King mentions that he knew his son would move mountains, to which Durin IV replies how can he do that if his dad gets upset about him making a small hole in some rocks. This is powerful writing, and yet another very well acted scene. It certainly makes an impact.
Fans will finally see the mysterious people that they have been waiting for in this episode. We caught a glimpse before but in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 7, we REALLY see them. They are powerful and they just do not care what or who they destroy in order to get what they want.
We don’t know too much yet, but things are sure to heat up in the finale as we hopefully dive into them more. Still, they have an incredible scene in this episode and look terrifying as they set an entire camp ablaze.
With the final moment of the episode revealing Mordor, which we all knew was coming but it was still exciting to see, fans will be on the edge of their seats as they wait for the finale. It wasn’t a perfect episode, but it was packed with a whole lot of story connecting and set up, which will hopefully pay off next week.
