The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 4 Review

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 4 comes on the heels of the worst episode of the series so far. Episode 3 wasn’t bad, per se, it was just the slowest of them all due to setting up for some serious character and world building. Luckily for fans, episode 4 blows it out of the worry, and restores The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power to the glory of the first two episodes.

While there is certainly quite a bit of talking and explaining this episode, fans will get to see some intense action and even a suspenseful scene that will have hearts pounding as viewers sit on the edge of their seats.

As seen previously, Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin) is in possession of something that holds a lot of power, although he isn’t too sure of all the details. Well, in this episode a lot more is revealed, and here is where those intense and suspenseful moments come into play. Coupled with the incredible score, you are sure to get shivers down your spine.

The creatures of this series are terrifying, and that is once again true in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 4. The makeup and costume team clearly have thrown their heart and soul into this show, and it has paid off big time. Viewers will easily forget that this is not real life ass they watch multiple different races of characters interact and come to life on screen.

When it comes to the action, this episode does not fall short. There are several great action sequences with a haunting yet glorious score that takes things to a whole new level. Say what you will, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power does not cut corners, that is for sure. Thankfully this latest episode is much more action packed than the previous one, sucking viewers right back in.

Something that was seriously lacking last episode was the Dwarves. They are an important part of this story and so it was lovely to have them back on screen. They bring a humor that allows viewers to put aside the heaviness of Sauron (especially those who know what is coming) and just laugh and enjoy the moment.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 4 delivers lots of Elrond and Prince Durin IV — who always give comedic relief when needed. However this time they add in something very important to the future of this franchise and that is the introduction of the precious metal, mithril. Fans will recognize this name and will know it is a silver like metal. So to have that brought into this series, along with the suggestion that it is going to be an important part of the story, is very exciting.

Galadriel was at the center of the previous episode and while she is of course in this one as well, she doesn’t have nearly as much screen time. When she is in the story, however, her story is integral to the overall plot. She sees the future and it is not bright.

What will this lead to? Only time will tell, but the way it is shown via effects and sound is top notch. Again, the team behind this series should be applauded time and time again. They are clearly phenomenal at their jobs, and poured everything they have into this series.

In the end, the kingdoms are finally coming together — setting up for the future of The Lord of the Rings lore. Knowing that the story has been propelled forward will have fans over the moon, as they get to dive more into the backstory of their favorite characters, while meeting completely new ones.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 4 brings action, heart, suspense, and some of the best visuals of the series thus far. With the way the storyline was left at the end of this one, fans can’t help but be eager for episode 5. Too bad we have to wait a week to see what adventure occurs next.

About The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history.

This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.

From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power episode 4 is now streaming on Prime Video.
