Do Revenge Review (2022 Movie)

Do Revenge is a fun film filled with twists and turns. It works mostly because of the two phenomenal female leads and clever writing.

Do Revenge feels like part Clueless and part I Know What You Did Last Summer — with a little bit of Mean Girls mixed in. This movie follows Drea (Camila Mendes) and Eleanor (Maya Hawke) as the two make a pact to get revenge for each other.

No one at their private school is aware that they know each other, so they decide to take advantage of it. Each of them has been wronged by another, so they set out to destroy those people’s lives. What possibly could go wrong?

Well, what happens next is a whole lot of messy drama that just gets better and better as time goes on. Each of the girls start to feel appreciated in the circles that they have infiltrated, which honestly was predictable from the very start. However, that is not where the twists and turns end.

Thankfully, there are some unpredictable reveals along the way, that make the movie a whole lot of fun to watch. It seems like every time you think you know where things are leading to, they take a complete left turn and catapult you to an entirely different scenario. This is much appreciated as most teen movies like this are very easy to figure out.

The two leads, Hawke and Mendes, make Do Revenge the success that it is. Without these two to shine on screen, it could have easily fallen flat. Some of the dialogue is iffy, and it is a bit too long for its own good, but these ladies make it wholeheartedly entertaining. They are both wicked and slightly self centered, which is perfect for this type of story.

Audiences will be rooting for them both, but feeling a little bit dirty for doing so. Eleanor and Drea are most definitely the characters that you love to hate. They are doing bad things and even if they are in order to get revenge, two wrongs do not make a right.

It is their chemistry however, that really makes this movie as entertaining as it is. They are great on screen together adding in the perfect amount of sass, humor, and eye-rolling. Do Revenge is geared towards the older teen crowd, but adults can enjoy it as well. Who doesn’t love a little mischief in their lives?

Overall, Do Revenge is an entertaining movie with silly humor that mostly hits. There are twists and turns that will keep viewers guessing, and keep their eyeballs glued to the screen throughout the slightly too long run time. It is the leads and their chemistry that make it such a home run, though. These two ladies should do a lot more movies together.
