The Boys Seasons Ranked From Worst To Best

With The Boys just wrapping up their 3rd season, the show has been solidified as one of the best superhero projects of all time. Here is our ranking for all 3 seasons.

WARNING: Spoilers for all 3 The Boys Seasons.

    The Boys Starlight

    3: Season 1 – 8.5./10

Though its first, They Boys season 1 is easily the weakest season overall. All 3 seasons are great television but since it has to focus so much on the world building and getting us invested in not only characters but also stories, dynamics, and backgrounds, it has a lot on its play which leaves little room for them to go out of the box.

With that being said, season 1 is still really good. It has Hughie Cambell as the main character and the way they set up The Se7en and The Boys is near perfect. The arcs in this season are pretty straight forward, which is what makes is weaker than Season 2, but again, it all makes sense because without the perfect groundwork and layout from Season 1, the other 2 seasons couldn’t have flourished.

    the boys season 2 stromfront

    2: Season 2 – 8.5/10

Each season has gotten better and better, Season 1 to 2 because since we already had groundwork, the story could go in better and crazier directions. For example, Stormfront’s story. Though she is primarily in Season 2 and slightly in Season 3, her impact on Homelander arc is crucial. Not only Stormfront but other character’s arcs do reach a climax in Season 2.

Starlight was the best she is in any season here in Season 2. Her arc involving her mother, Compound V, and relationship with Hughie make her one of the best characters in this season. Along with that Kimiko’s arc with her brother, The Deep in rehab, Butcher dealing with Ryan, Homelander wanting to be a “good” father, along with many more arcs, make this season a standout.

Starlight being a new character in Season 2 is a great inclusion and, though we see it again in season 3 with Soldier Boy, her emotional impact on characters was huge.

Other great stuff about this season is not only a huge step up in action, from season 1, but the story is much more rich and complex. There are so many more arcs and stories developed throughout this season and though its elevated in season 2 compared to 1, Season 3 takes it up to a whole other level.

The Boys season 3 episode 6 review herogasm

    1: Season 3 – 9.5/10

To put it bluntly, Season 3 is one of the best seasons of television ever. It once again takes everything from Season 2, but elevates it higher than EVER. The action, story, subplots, score, characters, writing… everything is perfect. What separated this season from the rest, and many other superhero shows, is that within the action there are dramatic moments.

The Boys is based off of drama and Season 3 uses that to its advantage. On top of that the inclusion of Soldier Boy and Homelander slowly breaking apart creates a perfect story – and that’s just the main story. Every single character (except for Maeve) gets their time to shine here… even Frenchie.

The only thing that ever had me skeptical about Season 3 was Frenchie’s story in the first 3 episodes but episode 4 turned it around and episodes 5, 6, 7, 8 are an absolutely insane run of television. Herogasm, the reveal of Soldier Boys being Homelander’s dad, and then a epic and massive fight at Vought tower — who could complain.

    Watch The Boys.
