If the first three episodes of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series are any indication as to what is in story for the season, Wildcat fans are in for a whole ton of fun. It feels so good to be back with our favorite characters as they navigate their summer. Between camp and road trips, they are spread out a bit, but that doesn’t mean they don’t all have something interesting going on.

In true HSMTMTS fashion, Ricky catches everyone up on what went down last season before season 3 truly kicks off. For those who watched it when it first aired and might be a bit rusty on the details, it is easy to slide right back into the story, and remember where everyone left off.

One of the best things about HSMTMTS is how family friendly it is. This is one that is truly a blast, and a complete joy to watch, for all ages. Parents and their children can cuddle up on the couch and watch together and all enjoy it. Not only do the original song and dance numbers shine, it is a great kicking off point for many conversations about important, real life, issues that come with getting older. Just from the first three episodes, it is very clear that this is still true of the show.

But let’s talk about those song and dance numbers. The first episode kicks off with what is sure to be everyone’s favorite summer bop, and the songs just get better and better from there. Which  says a lot because honestly, all that have been seen so far are incredible. Well written, catchy, and of course they come with some killer choreography.

In HSMTMTS Season 3 it is summer time (no pun intended — you’ll get it), so it is the perfect show to, at least start, air on Disney+ this summer. It will transport every viewer back to their summer camp and road trip experiences. New friendships, loves, and relationships of all kind — summer is about exploring the unknown, and that is exactly what the Wildcats do.

Not only do we get to spend with the characters we already know and love, there are quite a bit of fresh faces this season. Setting the show in a summer camp where people come in from all over is a brilliant way to keep things new and exciting — and introduce more characters that will throw in some drama, as well as some fun.

Tim Federle, the musical genius behind this show has done it yet again. As each episode comes to an end fans will be begging for more. With the gang putting on a production of Frozen at camp, things get interesting. Having only seen the first three episodes, we are already hooked and cannot wait to see how it all plays out.

One thing is for sure, this is an incredibly talented cast and each time it grows, it somehow gets better — which doesn’t seem possible.

The Disney+ Original Series, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, season 3 premieres Wednesday, July 27th only on Disney+. New Episodes Wednesdays.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 3

The Wildcats head to Camp Shallow Lake, a California sleepaway camp, where they and their fellow campers are primed for an unforgettable summer ripe with romance, curfew-less nights and a taste of the great outdoors. With a high-stakes production of “Frozen” on the horizon AND a drama-filled “docu-series” of the production, the Wildcats will attempt to show who is “best in snow” without leaving anyone out in the cold.

Episode 301 – “Happy Campers”

After a momentous year at East High, the Wildcats head to Camp Shallow Lake for two weeks of fun in the sun. With a high-stakes production of “Frozen” looming and new campers threatening to shake up the Wildcats’ dynamic, the campers are in for an unforgettable summer of highs, lows, and “Let It Go’s.”

Episode 302 – “Into the Unknown”

A reluctant E.J. takes the reins in a surprisingly new role on “Frozen.” New campers bring surprising vocal chops — and competition — to the auditions for “Frozen,” while in Los Angeles, Nini makes a potentially life-changing discovery of her own.

Episode 303 – “The Woman in the Woods”

After the cast list is revealed, the campers pack up and embark on Maddox’s favorite camp tradition: Newbie Initiation Night! Ghost stories and s’mores abound, but the true centerpiece of the night is “The Legend of the Woman in the Woods,” a spooky tale that sends Gina and Ricky on an adventurous quest… into the unknown.
