Only Murders In The Building season 2 continues to hit that perfect comedic timing. With a new mystery to solve, the stakes are even higher. This review is based solely on the first 8 episodes of Only Murders In The Building season 2.

Only Murders In The Building took the world by storm with its first season. Following three unlikely friends and their murder podcast, the twists and turns just kept coming as they tried to figure out who killed Tim Kono in their building in New York City. The season ended on a massive cliffhanger with yet another death, and this time they were framed for it.
Only Murders In The Building season 2 picks up exactly where the first season left off, and it is sure to continue with the same feel. That’s right, dry humor and twists and turns are abundant. With the question of who killed Bunny looming over the season, each episode delivers a new possible suspect, much like was done in season 1.
There are several new characters, but the focus does remain on Charles, Oliver, and Mabel. Each of them are going through something that is pulling their life away from the others. Having to deal with that, on top of being murder suspects, adds a whole lot of drama to the season.
Cara Delevingne joins this season as a love interest for Mabel, but as fans know she has some trust issues when it comes to her relationships. In an effort to remain spoiler free we won’t dive too much into this, but the two of them have fantastic on screen chemistry. It is clear they are very comfortable with each other, and it is nice seeing this side of Mabel.
As for Charles, well something that he never expected to ever happen, happens. There is going to be a reboot of Brazos, which is a dream come true for him. This series has always poked fun at pop culture, and this is another way for them to do it.
Again, we want to remain spoiler free, but this new role of his brings a lot of the humor to Only Murders In The Building season 2. Charles also has a couple of people from his past helping him try to solve Bunny’s murder, which adds a freshness to the mystery every now and then.
When it comes to Oliver, he is dealing with a potentially life changing event. He still has his obsession with dips (which causes some of the most hilarious moments of the season, actually), but there is something far heavier weighing on his mind. Within the first eight episodes, the reveal has not come, and we are certainly hoping it swings in his favor.
Only Murders In The Building season 2 continues to prove that the comedic trio of Gomez, Short, and Martin is one for the history books. The three of them work extremely well together and their dynamic brings something truly special to the show. The mystery of Bunny’s murder itself just gets crazier and crazier, causing viewers to come up with their own theories in hopes to solve it before the podcasters do.
Amy Schumer is by far the worst part of this season. She is tasked at playing a more annoying version of herself and well, she succeeds. Unfortutely none of her interactions are funny, as she is more grating than anything else. The saving grace here is that she isn’t in the season a whole lot. So there’s that.

All of that being said, this review is based solely on the first eight episodes of the season. The final two episodes of Only Murders In The Building season 2 have not yet been shared with press. This means that it is hard to critique the season as a whole, and determine if set ups will be paid off.
What we can say is that as of now we still have no clue who the killer really is, but there is a pretty good suspect or two in mind. Will there be a big twists? Probably. Either way, it is a complete joy to see these three back together on screen, doing whatever they can to clear their names.
If Only Murders In The Building season 2 continues down the path that it is going down, there is a good chance this season will be better than the first. Here’s to hoping the final episode drops yet another murderous cliffhanger on audiences, setting up for a season 3.
