Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 5 is the perfect blend of every aspect of television and sets up for what is sure to be an epic finale.

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR OBI-WAN KENOBI EPISODE 5
Last week’s episode was great but nothing too crazy… this week’s episode was on another level. We start with a duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan which lasts throughout the episode and really tells the story of Vader. As someone who has wanted flashbacks with Anakin in this show, they executed it perfectly here but more on that later.

Obi-Wan and the group of people he is with have a great plan to escape but Reva and Vader stop them from escaping with the tracker from the end of last episode and we get this phenomenal action sequence but just before that a small emotional beat with Reva and Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan finds out that, just as most of the audience predicted, Reva was a youngling during Order 66 and wanted to get revenge on Vader. That aside, Reva decides that Obi-Wan can’t help her defeat Vader. This huge battle was perfectly executed in my opinion. It was messy but that created such high tension that it worked.
In this battle Tala ends up dying, but sacrificed herself in order to save everyone. Obi-Wan still decides to surrender but then convinces Reva to let him go back and save the people. This was definitely the slowest part of the episode but at the end of the day it worked story-wise.

Obi-Wan and the other people make a plan to escape and Obi-Wan uses what he learned about Anakin though duels (aka what we were seeing throughout the episode) to help them escape. This is what I meant by using flashbacks perfectly. Instead of using flashbacks from the Clone Wars, they use smaller events, a small practice duel, but a duel that actually showed character and gave influence to the current story, rather than just nostalgia bait.
This flashback shows Anakin’s greed and this is because Vader tries so hard to bring down a ship, that he thinks has the people and Obi-Wan, but really the ship with everyone on it was behind it. Vader couldn’t get to it because he acted so quickly.

This leads us to a duel that I really wasn’t expecting but we got Reva vs Vader. This was yet again, another phenomenal fight. We had part of the fight where Vader just used the force against her and he could’ve just killed her, but he snaps the blade and offers a fair duel… and he stabs her through the stomach.
The Grand Inquisitor that “died” in the second episode is back and as they leave, Reva finds the message that Leia’s dad used to get to Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan feels this and the final shot in the episode is Luke.
As a whole, this show has had its ups and downs, but this episode has easily been the best one and sets up the finale to be absolutely insane.
