Lightyear End Credit Scenes Explained
Most moviegoers know to stay seated all the way through the credits after a movie now, and Lightyear is no different. There is not one, not two, but three end credit scenes after Lightyear, and you don’t want to miss any of them.
Two of them are funny, and not really meaningful to the story but still worth waiting for. Then, even after the Pixar lamp hops across the screen, fans will get one of the best stingers in Pixar history. Here’s all three Lightyear end credit scenes explained.
End Credit Scene 1
This Lightyear scene is technically a mid credit scene, and it is a bit of a silly one. We see Commander Burnside, the one who replaced Hawthorne when she died, sitting at his desk. As a giant bug comes to attack, it is stopped by the laser shield that he was so excited to put up. He says “laser shield” and all but pats himself on the back, before the credits continue to roll.
End Credit Scene 2
The second end credit scene plays at the very end of the credits, and right before the Pixar lamp outro to the film. This is another fun one, but once again, is totally worth sticking around for.
Earlier in the film, there is a robot that is trying to give directions to Buzz, Izzy, Mo, and Darby, but it gets confused and keeps correcting itself. In this end credit scene viewers see the robot finally complete his directions, only to turn around and realize they left him all alone long ago.
End Credit Scene 3
The final end credit scene comes after the Pixar lamp outro, and is well worth sticking around through all of the credits for. This is the ultimate stinger. Those who watched the movie might have thought that Zurg was dead, killed by Buzz. Instead we see him floating through space and then his eyes open, and we learn he is still alive.
Does this set up for a Lightyear 2? It is very possible that there would have been a second film in the Toy Story universe, if this is something Andy saw at the end of it. If it was that popular a movie that a cartoon series was spun off from it, technically Lightyear could have been a whole franchise of films. Fingers crossed that we get more of this absolutely breathtaking cinema.
