Tom & Jerry: The Movie Fun Facts
Director Tim Story gave us all the inside dirt for this movie! Don’t worry, none of these fun facts will contain major spoilers, so feel free to enjoy them, even before you see the movie.
- Chloe Grace Moretz did a lot of improvising on set! Keep an eye out for a scene where she says “mot” — that was all her idea, and a great moment in the movie! Michael Pena improvised a lot too.
- There was a gray stuffed Tom that was used to portray him on set — since of course, the animations were not there.
- A lot of puppets were involved in the shooting so that actors could play off something. Tim Story says he had no clue that puppeteers were THAT good.
- Spike was played by a man on all fours that Michael Pena actually walked on a leash. Imagine how funny it would be to see that!
- Tim tried lots of songs out for parts in Tom & Jerry: The Movie by showing it to test audiences with different songs in different scenes. When he saw people bopping along in their seats, that is when he knew he found the right ones.
- When Tim was approached to direct this movie, he was excited! He wanted to do a movie for his son.
- Keep yours eyes peeled for an elaborate trap that looks very real — surprise! It is all done with CGI!
- There are a couple of Easter Eggs in this movie for things that Tim Story really loves — like a Michael Keaton Batman shot (it involves the moon — keep an eye out for it), and the Secret Squirrel comic book.
- There were four wedding cakes baked so that they could use them for different shots in the movie. The cheesecake layer was made because it looked best flying around the room.
- Tim is a big Jerry fan because he loves the way her carries himself — that mouse has swag!
- The hardest scene to film was the wedding scene because they put every character together in one place.
- Tim already has ideas for a sequel, including a lot of his favorite characters from the Tom & Jerry cartoons like Muscles and Uncle Pecos!
- Tim says that Tom & Jerry act a lot like siblings. He hopes people learn that they can fight, but still come together and care about each other in the end, after watching his movie.

About Tom & Jerry: The Movie (2021)
One of the most beloved rivalries in history is reignited when Jerry moves into New York City’s finest hotel on the eve of “the wedding of the century,” forcing the event’s desperate planner to hire Tom to get rid of him, in director Tim Story’s “Tom & Jerry.”
The ensuing cat and mouse battle threatens to destroy her career, the wedding and possibly the hotel itself. But soon, an even bigger problem arises: a diabolically ambitious staffer conspiring against all three of them.
An eye-popping blend of classic animation and live action, Tom and Jerry’s new big-screen adventure stakes new ground for the iconic characters and forces them to do the unthinkable… work together to save the day.
Tom & Jerry : The Movie comes to theaters and HBO Max on February 26th!
