I recently chatted with Doug Unplugs Executive Producers Jim Nolan and Aliki Theofilopoulos about the new Apple TV+ show!

Doug Unplugs is a new preschool show that is available to watch on Apple TV+. Based off a couple of Doug Unplugged books it teaches children about how it is good to unplug from everything once in a while and enjoy life and have experiences. But this show also drives home that there is a time for tech, and learning through tech, which I think is a unique and fun concept. I was excited to chat with Executive Producers Jim Nolan and Aliki Theofilopoulos about this show.
I learned a lot about what went into making the show and what inspired it. Sure the concept comes form the books, but the show gets to dive into the world so much more. There are only a couple books and not all of the characters in the show are in it. Doug’s human friend Emma for example, is a completely new character!

The first season features seven 23 minute episodes, each of which have two stories in them. There is a lot for kids to learn here and I think they will have a blast doing it! Some the best kids shows are ones where they don’t know they are learning.
And Doug Unplugs is just that. There are a lot of things Doug does not know about since he is a robot, and Emma is very excited to teach them to him! She teaches him about the beach, vacation, and so many other things. These two go on many adventures together and it so much fun to watch!

Doug Unplugs Interview
I was excited to speak to speaking with Doug Unplugs Executive Producers Jim Nolan and Aliki Theofilopoulos about the show last week. Aliki is also the director. My daughter Lorie even joined me for one of the questions because she loves the show so much — so be sure to watch our video all the way through for that!
My favorite quotes from the interview would have to be these two, although the whole thing is informative and fun!
“Our show is all about balancing tech with experience. Treating tech as an important part of kids lives that isn’t going anywhere but then it says you need to have your tech but go out and explore your world.” – Jim Nolan
“As a mom myself, I have two kids and three stepkids, I was interested in the theme that there is a place for tech. We aren’t going to say tech is bad, tech is good. But there is this time to unplug and have an experiences.” – Aliki Theofilopoulos
