The War With Grandpa press event gave me lots of behind the scenes information — and I learned that there is a sequel in the works!

The War With Grandpa is coming to theaters October 9th and I got to attend a press day where I chatted with a lot of this amazing cast! Review embargo has not broken yet, so I cannot give you my full thoughts on this movie (stay tuned!), but I can talk about the interviews.
Seriously this press day was so much fun! When I saw the lineup of who I would be chatting with, I was pretty excited! Especially after having watched the movie (I cannot wait to talk about it with you guys!).
The War With Grandpa Interviews included:
- Oakes Fegley
- Laura Marano
- Jane Seymour
- Cheech Marin
- The Peart Family (Tre/Marvin/Rosa)

Standout Moments
Don’t worry, I will be posting the complete interview down below so you get the full scoop of everything that was talked about that day. However, there were some standout quotes that really stuck with me once the press event was over.
Here are some of my favorite things I learned during the The War With Grandpa junket:
“There were stunt doubles, but I personally participated an awful lot. Falling down and being trampled, yeah, that was me. I think there was one bit where somebody – supposedly me – threw themselves against the side. I can’t remember if that made it into the film or not but [that was] someone dressed as me. Mostly, I did my own stunts. ” – Jane Seymour (about the dodgeball scene)

“Seeing Robert De Niro sitting in a rocking chair and look out the window. With that music on and just missing his wife. He said not a word and I was like wow. It was so slight that conveyance of emotion, but it was really powerful.” – Cheech Marin (about his favorite scene in the film)
“I had a special bond with the kid actors on set. We all talked every day. We played video games together after shooting when we could. We always hung out together.” – Tre Peart (about being on set of a film he pitched)
“One thing his mom and I wanted to do, with him and for him, was we didn’t want to treat him any differently than anybody who brought us source material.” – Marvin Peart (about working with and encouraging his son)

“I’m lucky enough to have all four grandparents and have good relationships with all of them. It’s made me make sure I am not taking relationships for granted. It’s been a rough time and being able to talk to my grandparents – I was able to luckily visit my grandparents in Colorado – it was really nice to be able to see them, and make sure they are doing alright. Family is important, especially during this time .” – Oakes Fegley (on what he took away from the film)
“I was so nervous and intimidated about working with Uma [Thurman]. Especially because we had to go head to head. It had to be that dynamic where I did not give in. I was always fighting back. One scene in particular we have a little bit of a screaming match. I was nervous about the scene but it went super, super well, which was awesome.” – Laura Marano (about the mother/daughter relationship in the film)

Full Video Interviews
Below I have included the videos of all the interviews for The War With Grandpa so you can get all the inside information as well!
About The War With Grandpa
Sixth-grader Peter (Oakes Fegley) is pretty much your average kid. He loves gaming, hanging out with his friends and his beloved pair of Air Jordans. But when his recently widowed grandfather Ed (Robert De Niro) moves in with Peter’s family, the boy is forced to give up his most prized possession of all, his bedroom.
Unwilling to let such an injustice stand, Peter, with the help of his closest buddies, devises a series of increasingly elaborate pranks to drive out the interloper. But Grandpa Ed won’t go without a fight. He even enlists his own pals – Jerry (Christopher Walken), Danny (Cheech Marin) and Diane (Jane Seymour) – to join the battle. Soon, it’s all-out war, with each side willing to stop at (almost) nothing to claim victory.
As tensions mount, Peter’s family – dad Arthur (Rob Riggle), mom Sally (Uma Thurman) and sisters Mia (Laura Marano) and Jennifer (Poppy Gagnon) – remain blissfully unaware of the goings-on under their own roof. That is, until everything comes to a head during one unforgettable backyard birthday party.
Based on the best-selling novel by Robert Kimmel Smith, THE WAR WITH GRANDPA features an all-star cast led by Robert De Niro and Oakes Fegley as Peter, also featuring Christopher Walken, Cheech Marin, Jane Seymour, Rob Riggle and Uma Thurman. Directed by Tom Hill (Hop, Alvin and the Chipmunks) from a screenplay by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember (Get Smart), THE WAR WITH GRANDPA is produced by Marvin Peart, Rosa Peart and executive produced by Tre Peart.
