Universal Studios just announced “Universal’s Epic Universe” — a new theme park! A few days ago Universal Studios teased us, saying that they had some EPIC news coming. I immediately thought it had to be new theme park related — and could it be a Nintendo Theme Park? Something that had been teased but then nothing more after years of waiting. The literal dream of a gamer like me who grew up playing NES in to the wee hours of the night? NOPE. Well, not exactly…
This is kind of a big deal. pic.twitter.com/boxonV1uJF

As a Disney Vacation Club member, I am in Florida a few times a year. We have taken the family to Universal Studios once, and have been planning a return when the kiddos are just a tad older (and taller). I think we just decided on a month to go! With the news of a new theme park opening, you know I have to be one of the first to check out it!
And by the looks of this logo — and map — it certainly seems epic! Yeah, I cannot wait!
Epic Universe Photos & Details
The new park will have restaurants, shopping, and hotels. WOW! They are really starting to complete with Disney World on an EPIC level (yea, I went there…). And I for one cannot wait! It does look like this park will be a bit further away from the others. So can we expect some kind of transport system? Perhaps buses?
From the looks of the map, it seems like this park is going to be almost the same size are Universal Orlando is right now! This is a HUGE expansion — and this Disney fan might just be buying herself an annual pass once it opens. Because I guarantee my family will be visiting Universal Studios Orlando during EVERY Disney World trip!
There was no actual news of a Nintendo Park, but from the looks of how HUGE this new expansion is, perhaps there will be one! During the announcement, it was said that Epic Universe will “forever change theme park entertainment” — and then my jaw dropped.
Universal’s Epic Universe Details
Official description from Universal:
Universal’s Epic Universe will offer an entirely new level of experiences that will forever redefine theme park entertainment. Guests will venture beyond their wildest imagination, traveling into beloved stories and through vibrant lands on adventures where the journey is as astounding as the destination. The new location will feature a theme park, an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants and more. Ultimately, this expansion will create more space and freedom to let loose and create lasting memories with the people you love.
Universal’s Epic Universe will take guests on a journey where beloved stories expand into vibrant lands – and where that journey is as much a part of their adventure as the ultimate destination.
“Our new park represents the single-largest investment Comcast NBCUniversal has made in its theme park business and in Florida overall,” said Brian L. Roberts, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Comcast Corporation. “It reflects the tremendous excitement we have for the future of our theme park business and for our entire company’s future in Florida.”
The new theme park will also feature an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants and more. It will be located within a larger 750-acre site that nearly doubles Universal’s total available acreage in Central Florida. Universal’s Epic Universe is just a few miles from the existing resort in Southwest Orange County. Specifically, it will be south of Sand Lake Road and east of Universal Boulevard.
“Our vision for Epic Universe is historic,” said Tom Williams, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Universal Parks & Resorts. “It will build on everything we have done and become the most immersive and innovative theme park we have ever created. It is an investment in our business, our industry, our team members and our community.”
