Here are the biggest movies coming out in 2023 — and there are a lot of them! From superheroes and dolls, to boxers and killers.

2023 has some HUGE movies coming out from every genre so here are a bunch that you might not want to miss!

Biggest Movies Coming Out in 2023

    Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

Starting off Phase 5 of the MCU, and the first big release of 2023, we have Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. It seems like it will be the start of setting up the big future of the MCU in regards to future Avengers movies like Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Additionally it is set in the Quantum Realm, further exploring things we saw in the first 2 Ant-man movies earlier in the MCU. From Kang to the Quantum exploration, this movie has all of the attention!

Creed III Michael B Jordan Directorial Debut

    Creed III

The 8th installment in the Rocky franchise hits theaters this March in which Adonis’s opponent is played by Jonathan Majors. This is also Micheal B. Jordan’s directorial debut and the first sports movie shot in IMAX cameras so we will be checking this out on the biggest screen possible.

    Scream VI

Following Scream 2022 there was instantly buzz around a sequel and this March we will be getting a new Scream movie but now set in New York City. We still don’t know much about the plot but a massive change in scenery should make it interesting.

    Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Yes, the DCEU/DCU is in a weird spot right not but Shazam! was one of the few wins for the original DC Universe so inherently there is some hype going into this movie. Zackary Levi returns as Shazam in this movie that is set to be a lot more lore focused which makes us really excited for what all we will explore in the Shazam family.

    John Wick Chapter 4

Another March movie, this time an R-rated action movie but one that has built up a cult following since the original release. Though not much is known about the plot of John Wick 4, we know that Wick is at war and this time their might not be a happy ending. The rest of the franchise was pure entertainment with a solid emotional punch so we expect nothing less from Chapter 4.

    65

This one will definitely go under the radar for most people but starring Adam Driver and produced by Sam Raimi with a score from Danny Elfman, 65 is a sci-fi thriller taking place 65 million years in the past on a foreign planet where Driver’s character must learn to survive.

    The Super Mario Bros. Movie

With April being a pretty slow month for movies, The Super Mario Bros. Movie will have to carry us through the month. This film has an absolutely stacked cast including (but not limited to) Christ Pratt, Jack Black, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor Joy and Seth Rogan.

Additionally, this film is from the studio behind the Despicable Me films (Illumination) and with an already die hard fan base around the character, it is guaranteed to be a fun time in the theaters.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

The second Marvel Cinematic Universe movie being released this year will also be the end of the Guardians franchise as we know it. This film will be packed with emotional moments and a cosmic Guardians adventure that we have no doubt will send off these characters perfectly.

    Fast X

Somehow the Fast franchise is still alive and with X being the second to last in the franchise it will be interesting to see how they begin the inevitable end.

    the little mermaid 2023

    The Little Mermaid

Another Disney classic remade in live action is hitting theaters this May and though it has a stacked cast and a decent trailer, the track record for these films isn’t too promising.

The saving grace in our eyes is music by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Halle Bailey seems like a great casting for the character… but can it escape the Disney remake curse? Only time will tell.

    Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Riddled with delays, Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse is finally coming out this June and it might just be one of the craziest movies ever. Following Into the Spider-Verse which is hailed as one of the best animated movies of all time, it seems like this movie will only up everything done in the first film.

From an even more detailed animation style to an ever expanding cast of new and returning Spider-people, Across the Spider-Verse will be one for the history books for both Spiderman fans and fans of film.

    Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

Transformers movies are back and this one is set even before Bumblebee to a Beast Wars inspired story in the Transformers world. Hopefully this film will be the beginning of a successful Transformers universe and they will be back to consistently making new movies.

Biggest Movies Coming Out in 2023 continued…

    The Flash

Aside from all of the insane drama behind the scenes of this film, at its core The Flash still seems like it will be a fun multiversal movie. With 2 different flashes, 3 batmen and a supergirl, the multiversal elements don’t look like they will be lacking but it is just a question of what are the implications of the movie and will it be focused enough on the right things to actually be good.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Directed by James Mangold (who also did Logan) it seems like this legacy sequel in the Indiana Jones franchise is in good hands but at the end of the day this film is unnecessary so the biggest question of all is will they still tell an interesting and compelling story or is this all a grand setup for a future Indiana Jones franchise?

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One

The beginning of the end as many say, there isn’t much we know about the plot but we know that Cruise is here to give us the theatrical experience of a lifetime (x2), so there is only reason to be hyped up.

    Oppenheimer

Christopher Nolan returns to bless the big screen with a stacked cast in a biopic about J. Robert Oppenheimer and the creation of the atomic bomb. The 3 trailers we have gotten thus far look amazing and we will be seating the grandest theater possible for this film.

    Barbie

Releasing on the same day as Oppenheimer is Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie (July 21, 2023). Aside from knowing this film stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and a few other big Hollywood actors, nothing has really been revealed about this film.

Gerwig has an amazing track record with her films so whether this is a high concept Truman Show-esque film or just the chronicles of Barbie, it will be a very interesting watch.

    The Marvels

The final 2023 release for the MCU this year comes in the form of The Marvels and though we don’t know much about this film either, Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, and Photon team up for some galactic adventure, which is always fun to see.

    Blue Beetle

Though this was originally an HBO Max exclusive movie, it is now being released as a theatrical film which is always a good sign. It stars up and coming actor Xolo Maridueña and will be a more teenager/coming of age movie which is something new for DC.

    Kraven the Hunter

We still know very little about this film but the Sony villain universe continues to expand (for some reason) and this time with Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter. Hopefully this is better than Morbius.

    Dune: Part Two

With this and Dune: Sisterhood starting production in the end of 2022 the future of the on-screen Dune franchise is looking bright. In Part Two Denis is finishing his adaptation of the first book and he also stated he would love to make Messiah into a film as well, showing interest in expanding this universe even more in the future.

Part One was an amazing introduction to the world and with stuff only getting more interesting we are excited to see how this one plays out.

Biggest Movies Coming Out in 2023 continued…

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Details on this film are very limited but we know it will be a direct prequel to the original set of movies which is sure to draw back those who were huge fans of the original.

    Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

The final DC film of what we know as the current DC Universe, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, brings back the entire cast from the first film but now has Black Manta as the main villain.

Those are all of the big 2023 releases but through the year there will also be some other amazing releases. From Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, to a Willy Wonka musical (Wonka), 2023 is going be a stacked year for movies with stuff for everyone to enjoy!
