James Hong Confesses His Deepest Desire
In the new movie Wendell & Wild, a young girl named Kat makes a deal with two demon brothers to bring her parents back to life. In this exclusive interview with James Hong, Mama’s Geeky asked him what he would wish for if he made a deal with them. His deepest desire? Well, it is sure to swell your heart and make you cry because he would just wish for more time doing what he loves to do — make movies.
“If I could make a deal with the demon — or devil, as you say, I guess I would like to stay around a little longer and have good health and do a few more movies that are really good movies — on camera. Through my years, I’ve done all these so called smaller roles, right? And very few movies, I’ve done maybe just two or three, where I’m the main character. And so I would like to be the main character in some movies.”
We would all love for that to happen James. He added what would he have to give up for that though? He doesn’t know.
Who Is Father Bests?
James Hong’s character in Wendell & Wild is hilarious and a lot of fun. When asked how he would describe his character, Father Bests, Hong says that he has one goal in life, but he is also a bit egotistical.
“He thinks he’s the best. That’s true to his name, but because of that, he’s driven to his goal. And his goal is to keep his school going for the girls. It’s a tough time. A crisis in his life, where he may lose the school. So this teenager, Kat, is bringing in Wendell and Wild to so called help, or whatever, and it goes crazy. Everything goes haywire because the shoe doesn’t quite fit.”
Kat is just a teenager and the demons are taking advantage of her a bit, which leaves Father Bests out of the equation. “In a sense, they’re not really interested in helping me. So that’s the turmoil, the conflict of this movie, for me.”
