Ms. Marvel episode 2 is now on Disney+ and this show continues to surprise us. Here’s our Ms. Marvel episode 2 spoiler review and recap.

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR MS. MARVEL EPISODE 2
We start this episode with Kamala Khan in high school and slightly dealing with the repercussions with the last episode. She still has her identity hidden but in her head she is hot stuff. I definitely think the style of this show is top notch but I’ll talk about that later.
We get introduced her love interest, Kamran. His character, so far has been great. Of course, later in this episode we see some more of his intent, they plan to go to a party and at this party Kamala and Kamran have a great time and exchange numbers.
Right before the party we see a little training montage of Kamala and Bruno figuring her powers but more importantly another side plot with the mosque. This episode had miles more representation than the first episode, both formal and informal.
We see the sexism and discrimination in the mosque and how her bestfriend wants to change it, and I love this. We get more of the ancestral stuff later in this episode but for now we go back to her school.

At school she is having a problem controlling her powers but we don’t touch on it too much. Though this episode was already over 50 minutes, I would’ve loved more of it.
Before Kamala and Kamran’s driving lesson, we see Bruno find out he got into CalTech and we get this side plot of him being indecisive on going. I think we will get a better explanation about it later but hopefully they do touch on it again. He is a pretty interesting character and the first episode set him up really well so I think he will have an interesting future.
Now the middle 10 minutes of the episode aren’t mind-blowing in terms of story-progression but I think it sets up character overall really well. We get more of Kamala’s brother and his fiancée, but more importantly her family history.
I did NOT expect this show to have ancestral connections, at least to this extent, and it is really, really interesting. She is seeing vision of what I can only assume to be her great grandmother, the one that her mother, and all of the aunties don’t like.

The last chunk of the episode is where we found all of that out as we see the Eid festivities. The episode ends with Kamala saving this boy from falling off a building but just as she thought he was safe, she has a vision of her great grandmother, causing her to drop the kid.
The Department of Damage Control shows up and tries to catch Kamala but she escapes in Kamran’s car, and in the backseat is his mom.
Now though I have no idea where this story is going, I love it! This show, though is a “cheesy, kids, Disney Channel original show”, has better writing and development than almost every other MCU Disney+ show thus far.
Rating: 8 out of 10

Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero megafan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?
